SPELLING BEE COMPETITION 2015 REPORT (AFTERNOON SESSION)

General Overview of the Competition

Spelling Bee Competition 2015 is organized in order to help students enhance their
proficiency in using a variety of words, specifically focusing on their spelling ability which
will ultimately enable them to become good English language users. There are 3 categories of
the competition, namely, Transition Category, Form 1 Category and Form 2 Category. This
competition involved 12 Transition students, 18 Form 1 students and 22 Form 2 students.
Altogether, there are 52 students who competed to be the best speller in each category.

Summary of the Activity

Spelling Bee Competition 2015 was held on the same day, 14 August 2015, for each category.
The competition went smoothly as all students tried their best to spell the words given. They
also learnt new words and practiced using the vocabulary indirectly via their active
participation in this competition.

CHORAL SPEAKING COMPETITION 2015 REPORT

General Overview of the Competition

Choral Speaking Competition 2015 is organized in order to enhance students proficiency in


using the language and help them to be more confident when speaking in front of an
audience. There were 30 students involved in this competition from Form 1, 2, 3 and 4. It was
held on Tuesday, 24 March 2015. Altogether, there had been 20 secondary schools from
Kuching area who participated in this competition. The venue was at MBKS Auditorium. The
teachers who went with the students there were Madam Saraspathi Naniapen, Madam Faridah
Rinong and Madam Rapu Piee.

Summary of the Activity

The competition went well from the beginning until the end. Needless to say, SMK Batu
Kawa students had tried their very best to deliver the finest presentation in their final
performance at the auditorium. Even though they did not win any prizes, their high
enthusiasm and commitment throughout the training sessions until the actual day of the
competition were truly commendable. The students also gained new invaluable experience
which made them more confident and well improved English language users in terms of their
proficiency during the course of their participation in this competition.
