 United Way of Central Ohio Community Care Day has become
What is central Ohio’s largest one-day volunteer outreach event. In
Community 2007, more than 5,000 volunteers from over 200 companies,
Care Day government agencies and labor unions, completed a variety of
tasks. Some of these tasks include painting, clean-up,
construction and repair work for United Way agencies, schools,
churches and neighborhoods.

Who Teams of employees from organizations throughout Delaware,
Fairfield, Franklin, Knox and Pickaway Counties will join forces to help
make a difference in their respective communities.

neighborhoods save thousands of dollars in manpower costs,

 PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES

SCHOOL DISTRICT PROJECT SITE COORDINATORS

• SELECT projects that will benefit your organization. PLAN AND PROVIDE materials
and tools for projects, ARRANGE for lunches and water, SEEK sponsors for your
organization.

• ASSIGN staff members to coordinate the project as well as to staff the project for the
event day. One staff member must be assigned to each project requested.

• SCHOOL DISTRICT PROJECT SITES must plan significant experiences for Volunteer
Companies that directly benefit the organization. Volunteer shifts can begin from 7:30 –
9:00 AM and end from 2:30 – 4:00 PM and should allow for a one hour lunch break.

• REMEMBER School District Project sites must GUARANTEE that lunch and
water will be served for all volunteers and all necessary supplies and
equipment are provided to complete projects.

• COMPLETE Project Site registration form ONLINE and mail your Liability and Photo
Release Forms for staff members to United Way of Central Ohio.

DUE THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2008

• CONTACT, COMMUNICATE and CONFIRM! School District Project Sites and

Volunteer Company Matches will be assigned by Thursday, August 7, 2008.
Once your Company has been assigned to you, CONTACT the Company Coordinator
and COMMUNICATE what your School District Project Site will be providing for the site:
lunches, water, materials and other needs. CONFIRM what the Volunteer Company
will provide: number of volunteers, materials and tools.

• SCHEDULE a site visit with your Volunteer Company Coordinator.

• COMMUNICATE SOME MORE Contact your Volunteer Company Coordinator, review

project assignments, dress recommendations, list of materials provided and
DIRECTIONS/MAPS for the big day.

• COMMUNICATE AGAIN Contact your Volunteer Company Coordinator ONE MORE

 TIME before the big day to make sure everything you need is in place.

• PROMOTE United Way Community Care Day 2008 within your organization. Talk it up!
