Pentecost Offering
Our 2016 Pentecost
Offering will be received on
both May 15 and May 22. The Pentecost
Offering is dedicated to the support of New
Church Development both in the Pacific
Southwest Region and across the U.S. and
Canada.
The Disciples new church movement is
experiencing a Second Wind. With courageous
leaderships and the wind of the Holy Spirit
breathing vitality into the movement, we
Disciples are on course to start 1,000 new
congregations by 2020, a little more than four
years from now. Since the creation of the 2020
Vision, with the goal to start 1,000 churches by
that date, 934 churches have already been
planted in the United States and Canada. These
new congregations have a total membership of
61,000 individuals, many of whom may not
have had a relationship with Christ before
becoming part of one of these congregations.
Half of the offering we receive on either
May 15 or 22 will be returned to the Pacific
Southwest Region for the launching of new
congregations in our Region in the remaining
years of this second decade of the 21st century.
One of the 934 congregations launched
in the past years is our sister congregation,
Casa de Oracin, which, as you know, shares
our facilities and whose presence is a great
blessing to us.
The goal for the 2016 Pentecost Offering
is $960. Look for an insert about the Pentecost
Offering, plus a Special Offering envelope for
your use in making your gift in the worship
bulletin this Sunday, May 8.
