Large-File Problems
If you experience some problems when printing very large drawings or long plots
, please ensure that your system drive has at least 800 Mb of free space.
You may also find it helpful to disable print spooling, as follows:
Under Windows XP or Windows Server 2003:
Start -> Control Panel -> Printer and faxes -> Properties-> Advanced -> "Print d
irectly to printer"
Timeout for Complex Print Jobs
For particularly complex drawings you may need to change the printer spool setti
ngs. This may be done as follows:
Under Windows XP or Windows Server 2003:
Start -> Control Panel -> Printer and faxes -> Properties-> Advanced -> "Start p
rinting after last page is spooled"
Color Space
You should select the sRGB color space in your application, otherwise hue casts
may not be printed correctly. No CMYK path is available in this driver. If you u
se CMYK color space, your application will convert it to RGB; ensure that it con
verts to sRGB.

Large Images and Adobe Applications

Adobe Photoshop may have difficulty in printing large images at high resolutions
or on large paper sizes. You can check in advance whether a problem will occur
by clicking on the second pane from the left of the Photoshop status bar. You sh
ould see a gray rectangle representing the printed page, and a white crossed rec
tangle on top representing the image. The white rectangle should be surrounded b
y the gray one; if not, your image may be clipped.
To overcome this limitation, click on the "Troubleshooting Menu" menu in the "Se
rvices" tab and check the option "Compatibility with 16-bit applications". By do
ing this, the printer driver will report a lower resolution to the application,
which may allow the large images to be printed. This option should only be used
as a workaround in case of problems, as it reduces the rendering resolution and
can affect the final printed quality. You may experience a similar problem with
Adobe Acrobat .
Choosing Standard Page Sizes in Microsoft Word
If you want to select from a particular group of standard page sizes (such as AN
SI or ISO) in Microsoft Word, you must first enable those paper sizes in the dri
ver's 'Paper Standards' property page.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
You should have Windows running and displaying the desktop; we recommend rebooti
ng your computer before installing a driver.
Manual Installation
1. If the output you send to the printer will go directly to the printer by netw
ork without being stored on another computer, you must create a network port bef
ore installing the driver (consult your network documentation or network adminis
trator).
2. Under Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, click Start, Control Panel, Printer
s and other hardware, Printer and faxes; then click Add Printer in the frame lab
elled "Printer tasks".
3. Follow the steps displayed on your screen, answering the questions as appropr
iate. Below is some basic advice for some of the questions that you may be reque
sted to answer, depending on your system configuration.
You may be asked whether your printer is connected directly to your computer, or
connected indirectly through another computer.
Select:
* "My computer" or "Local printer" if the output you send to the printer will go
directly to the printer by cable or network without being stored on another com
puter.
* "Network printer" if you will send output to the printer via another computer.
In this case, all settings for the printer are managed by a printer server that
has been set up by an
administrator.
If you are prompted for the manufacturer and model of your printer, Click Have D

isk...
Then in the Install From Disk dialog box, enter the location of the driver on th
e CD-ROM (the same folder as this ReadMe file) and click OK. Select your HP Desi
gnjet printer from the list and click Next.
If you want to install several drivers you will need to repeat this procedure.
You may be asked whether you want to keep the existing driver or use the new one
.
Select "Replace existing driver".
You may be asked whether you want to print a test page.
We recommend that you select "Yes". By printing a test page you will test the co
mmunications link between your system and the printer.
If you are sharing the driver with Windows 95, 98, or Me, you may be informed th
at a file from Windows 95, 98, or Me is needed. All the necessary files are loca
ted two folders up from this ReadMe file, in the "9X" folder.
Under Windows Vista, click Start, Control Panel, Printers; then click Add Printe
r in the Toolbar.
