WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS FC

2016-17 Performance Analysis Internship


Western Sydney Wanderers FC are seeking internship applications from
enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work within the First Team
Performance Analysis Department. The internship is a minimum 10-month
position with a minimum of 15 hours per week availability. Working alongside
the clubs First Team Performance Analyst, the successful applicant will gain
valuable knowledge and experience within a professional football
environment.
POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to:
George Wehbe (First Team Performance Analyst)
Roles and Responsibilities:
Contribute to and assist with all first team performance analysis support of
both the team and individual players.
Film, code & provide statistical analysis for first team games and training
sessions.
Contribute to and assist with opposition analysis (coding of opposition
video, statistical reports, etc.)
Collection of statistical and video data, and maintenance of statistical and
video databases.
Contribute to the on-going innovation and development of the performance
analysis department.
Occasionally provide performance analysis support to the Western Sydney
Wanderers National Youth League (NYL) and Academy teams.
Essential Requirements:
Enthusiasm to develop and learn from experienced staff.
Strive for daily excellence within the performance analysis department, and
the Western Sydney Wanderers football club.
Highly motivated to work within professional sport.
Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and deal with
constructive criticism.
A good knowledge of football and a keen interest in the application of
performance analysis within football.
Familiar with SportsCode (highly desirable) and Microsoft Excel.
Clear and effective communication skills.
Ensure confidentiality of all club intellectual property at all times.
Available to work unsociable hours (weekends and public holidays)

Qualifications:
Sports Science/Sports Coaching degree or equivalent is highly desirable.
Applicants in the process of completing a relevant undergraduate degree in
the final year may also be considered.
Please note that this internship position is strictly not for undergraduate work
experience hours.
Internship Requirements:
The internship is a minimum 10-month position, subject to on-going
satisfactory performance, with a minimum of 15 hours per week availability
required. The successful applicant will be asked to attend home games, and
where possible, away games within NSW. In addition, the intern will be asked
to attend training sessions at least two days per week during pre-season, and
at least one day per week in-season to assist with filming and any other
performance analysis support. The internship will be largely based at the
WSW Training Facility at Blacktown International Sports Park. Home games
for the 2016-17 season will be played at Sydney Olympic Park.
Remuneration:
This is an unpaid internship, and is designed to build knowledge and
experience in performance analysis at the elite level within a professional
football environment. As part of the internship, the candidate will have the
opportunity to attend a Level 1 SportsCode License Course or, if Level 1 has
already been attained, a Level 2 SportsCode License Course. The successful
applicant will be provided with all of the required club attire (shirt, shorts, and
club tracksuit). In addition, a club laptop computer and iPad will be provided to
the candidate for use throughout the placement, and must be returned at the
completion of the internship.

Interviews will be conducted the week commencing 6th June 2016. Only
applicants that are selected for an interview will be contacted via email.
