Conrad Weiser School District
Student Conduct Guidelines for Toronto Trip – May, 2010

When taking a trip involving a significant distance to travel and overnight accommodations, it is imperative that
students understand they will be held accountable for their own actions, and that there will be consequences
for inappropriate behavior. This trip is a school-sanctioned trip. Therefore, all rules and regulations of the
Conrad Weiser High School will be enforced.

Valuables
Students should limit the amount of valuable items, such as cell phones, CD players, iPods, etc. that they bring
with them. They may not be used during group activities. Parents and students understand that there may be
additional costs if utilizing cell phones in Canada at international rates and that the school highly discourages
cell phone use. Mr. Lutz, chaperones, and the Conrad Weiser Area School District will not be held responsible
for any items lost or damaged on this trip.

Dress
It is important for students to remember that they are representing not only themselves but also Conrad Weiser
Area School District. Students must wear appropriate attire: students not dressed appropriately may have to go
with a chaperone to purchase appropriate clothing at the student’s expense (see Packing List for more
information about appropriate clothing guidelines).

Conduct and Curfew

Students must abide by rules, instructions and directions of assigned Chaperones, Staff and Band Directors,
including but not limited to the following. Students must obey the curfew hours as posted by the chaperones and
staff. Male students may not enter the rooms of female students and visa versa. Students may not be alone and
must use the “buddy system” at all times, including when in the hotel. Students must stay with assigned
Chaperone groups when so directed. Students must use appropriate language, observe rules of good citizenship
and respect the property of others at all times. Students must be respectful towards all adults and fellow students
at all times. Use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs is prohibited regardless of student age.

Consequences
Students who make poor choices concerning their behavior may face consequences such as:
• assigned seats at group events;
• loss of free independent time;
• possible room re-assignment;
• personally assigned chaperone;
• notification to parent or guardian at home;
• Dismissal as detailed below.

Dismissal Clause
If a student is caught engaging in extremely inappropriate or irresponsible behavior, the Conrad Weiser band
director reserves the right to send the student home at the parents’ expense, effective IMMEDIATELY. Such
behavior includes, but is not limited to:
• use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs REGARDLESS OF STUDENT AGE;
• student creating “their own” agenda and skipping out on events;
• Sexual relations.

NOTE: All traveling students and their legal guardians have read and signed
the Conduct Guidelines.
