INTERVIEW WITH NERMIN CARO

FIELD TESTER - AGE: 37 - GERMANY

When young Nermin Caro spotted an old school fisherman, still angling using the English method, his mind opened up to the beautiful world that is carp
fishing. Even though it was not easy finding information on the subject in the early 90s in Germany, Nermin got his hands on a book called Carp Fever
by Kevin Maddocks. While devouring this gem, Nermin got a serious infection of the carp fishing virus and to this day, as he expresses it so seemly, he
is still ill.
Nermin likes to call himself a true target fish hunter. Always out to catch the biggest fish, as expeditiously as possible. Needless to say, we are proud to
see this guy working his magic using NTEC tackle.
We notice a sparkle in his eyes as he tells us about Mary, the world record common. This memorable beast got stuck on Nermins hook twice, weighing
39,2 kg (86,4 lbs) in 2009 and 39,6 kg (8,3 lbs) in 2010. We imagine our friend shouting Wunderbar! at the scene.
When asking Nermin why he chose NTEC, he wittfully responds with I didnt choose NTEC, NTEC chose me.. Let us mention that NTEC chooses all of you,
including (but not limited to) Nermin.
Naturally, Nermins other activities include writing articles for Carpcrossing, conducting exhibitions for his sponsors (Sonik Sports, Carpcrossing),
creating bait and developing new products for NTEC.
Could we end this little story better than using one of Nermins oneliners: Catch fish or die trying? Guess not.

Ideal for a quick and safe change of your rig. In order to guarantee a correct fixation of
the rig, an anti tangle sleeve should be slid over the loop of your rig onto the lower side of
the swivel. This swivel can be used with most lead systems. Available in size 8.

An extra ring is attached to this swivel. This added ring is larger and functions as a flexible

This swivel has a smaller and lighter body. It is often used to put onto the hook as an
excellent replacement for the regular hair. This way the bait can move freely which gives
the hook more freedom while hooking a fish. In combination with our hook beads the swivel

A strong teflon coated hook suitable for various circumstances. Because of its robust
composition, it is perfectly suited for fishing near obstacles. The point of the hook is facing
inwards which makes the hook claw-shaped. It provides a strong hook hold in extreme carp
fishing conditions.

NEW DEVELOPED

The T-Anti Snag hook is developed with a special Cutting Point. The Cutting Point has a
inverted T shaped, which greatly increases the penetration. The special Cutting
point will not only reduce resistance when penetrating but also increase the abrasive

Resistance is an mono that is engineered for extreme
conditions. The Resistance is a sinking line and contains
a soft surface coating. The coating is developed to have
superior casting features. This line also contains low
stretch, so we can guarantee an perfect bite registration on long distance. The resistance is a line that is
abrasion resistant and almost totally memory free.
This mono will be delivered in the colors moss green,
dark gray and natural.

ELEMENTAL BRAID (1000m)

A braided mainline that can be used in various
situations. This slow sinking braid is perfectly suitable
for long distance fishing and for fishing near snags. The
Elemental braid is made out of sustainable material and
exists out of four weaves. Moreover it has excellent
features for knotting and throwing. This mainline has
almost no elasticity, which ensures a sharper bait
indication and a direct contact with the fish. We advise
to combine this product with a nylon shock leader.

FIELD TESTER - AGE: 31 - FRANCE

NTEC anglers Alex and Patricia have been living a life that most of us dream of. For the past two years they have been traveling Europe, searching for
beautiful places in which to angle for carp. We caught up with Alex in this short interview to find out more about their incredible journey.
What is Operation Freedom?
During the spring of 2013, an idea began forming in my mind, an idea that would allow me the opportunity to live a more wholesome life, travel and
indulge in my favourite pastime, carp fishing. I had no notion of the extent to which it was possible, just a strong intuitive feeling that I had to take hold
of realitys steering wheel and guide it in the direction of my thinking.
Almost three years down the line all of my imaginings have converged; I now travel with my partner around Europe in our handmade camper
discovering wild habitats in which to angle for carp. We take a keen interest in botanical knowledge and plant medicine, supplementing our diet with wild
foods where possible. For us a simple low impact existence is essential. It affords us the time to do what we love.
Anyone who truly understands the passion for angling knows that true happiness only exists by the waterside. All other time is spent either thinking or
dreaming about it. Many may see this as excessive or even obsessive, but for us it goes much deeper than that. Its about catching fish obviously, but
asides from that very important part, its about being outside immersed in nature and truly appreciating it. When we stay in the moment and are
conciously doing this, it is then that we realise how great it is to be alive. Nothing else exists or matters. This is our chosen realty. This is Operation

What are your plans for the future?
Angling has become increasingly popular in recent years but unfortunately like most industries, it is more and more subject to materialist values hence
losing sight of its origins and philosophy. Angling is not a sport but a way of relating to the world; it is through angling that I think we all have founded a
deeper relationship with nature, something I see as essential to the longevity of angling and the future of this planet as a whole.
One of our primary concerns for the future is to encourage people to open their minds to the intelligence of nature. For too long we have upheld the
notion that human beings are the pinnacle of intelligence. This just is not the case and to assume such a thing highlights the ignorance dwelling within
human perception. To my mind we have been largely miseducated in the west around these notions and unfortunately, in my opinion, it is this
miseducation that allows for the continued ecological degradation now occurring on a global scale. We want to help inspire this change through sharing
new ideas and discoveries that have been long overdue.
From may 2016 we are going to create a series of inspirational films during our 8 months travel around Europe. As passionate anglers and nature
lovers we feel its important to do what ever we can to bring about a much-needed change in the way we collectively see and thus experience nature.
For us angling is not just about learning how to best extract a wary fish from its watery home, its about understanding how best to maintain and
preserve the equilibrium surrounding fish and all nature. After all, the fish and its environment are one and the same; they are inexorably coupled and
cannot survive without each other.

Can you tell a little bit more about yourself?

Growing up surrounded by water I had the chance of spending as much time fishing as I could since the early age of 5. It was not long after this that I
discovered the mysterious big and dark commons cruising through the canal while fishing for bream. I quickly forgot all about the bream and chased
the carp untill I succeeded in catching them. A passion for carp was born.
What is carpcrossing exactly and how did it arise?
I wanted to create something different from the current carp fishing websites at that time. A place where passion would be carried out and not just the
trophy. Carpcrossing was born and quickly became well known for its articles, photography and video. Every year, more and more anglers choose to be
a part of it, sharing their knowledge with the rest of the world. I never could have imagined the success of it to be as big as it is now.
What are your plans in carp fishing for the future?
In carp fishing there is no end. There is no final chapter. There is not a day when you are finished trying to understand the behavior of the carp. My
angling takes place on big European rivers and public lakes. I hope I can keep living the dream by fishing these amazing waterways in pursuit of carp.
