One Fellowship BI for junior scientist holding a Licentiate Degree is open at the Fundao da Faculdade de Cincias da
Universidade de Lisboa, F.P. (FFCUL), for the project, Collaboration in the ATLAS Experiment, CERN/FISNUC/005/2015,
financedbynationalfundsbyFCT/MEC(PIDDAC)undertheprogrammeProjetosnombitodacolaboraoentrePortugal
eoEuropeanLaboratoryforParticlePhysics(CERN)2015,underthefollowingconditions:

ScientificArea:ElectronicsandInstrumentation

Requirementsforadmission:ThecandidatemusthaveaLicentiateDegreeinEngineeringSciencesEngineering
Physicsorrelatedareas,agoodlevelofknowledgeinElectronicsandInstrumentation,aswellasinNuclear,Radiationand
ParticlePhysics.TheexperienceinthedevelopmentoftestsetupsinLabviewwillalsobenecessary.

Factorspreferred:AgoodEnglishlanguagelevelandknowledgeofprogramminglanguages(Python,C,C++)and
operating systems (Linux, Windows). The experience in the development of firmware in VHDL/Verilog for reconfigurable
electronics(FPGAs)willalsobeverywelcome.

Workplan:Theprojectispartofajointeffort,undertakenbyInstitutionsofseveralcountries,toplananddesign
theupgradeoftheTilecaldetectoroftheATLASexperiment,inordertohandlethe5xincreaseoftheluminositypredicted
forthesuperLHC(SLHC).Thegrantrecipientwilldeveloptasksinvolvingtheimplementationofadedicateddigitalcontrol
systemandatestsetupforahighvoltagedistributorsystemusedintheTilehadroncalorimeteroftheATLASdetector.

Legislation framework: A fellowship contract will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT

Fellowship duration: This position is initially opened for 4 months and will begin on June 2016. The fellowship
contractmayberenewedtomore2months,inaccordancewiththeprovisionsofRegulationofResearchFellowshipsfrom
theFoundationforScienceandTechnology,I.P.

Monthlyallowance:Thefellowshipamountsto745,accordingtotablevaluesofthefellowshipsawardeddirectly
bytheFCT,IP.(http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).
Thefellowshipholderwillhaveapersonalaccidentinsuranceand,ifnotcoveredbyanysocialprotectionschemecanensure
therighttosocialsecuritythroughadherencetothevoluntarysocialinsurancescheme,pursuanttoCdigodosRegimes
ContributivosdoSistemaPrevidencialdeSeguranaSocial.
Thefellowshipwillbepaidmonthlybybanktransfer.

9.
Selectionmethod:CandidateswillbeassessedbythequalityoftheirCV(40%)andtheskillsaboveenumerated
(60%).
