Welcome to DCT LAB examination!
You will have a 3-hour session today. Please read the following rules and policies
carefully.

DCP-Switching LAB Examination Rules and Policies


1. The passing score for DCT LAB Examination is 70 points.
2. Talking and discussion are not allowed during the lab test session.
3. All mobile devices must be switched off during the session.
4. If a candidate needs to go to the restroom during the session, the candidate
must first seek the proctors consent. Time of absence for session is counted in
the total examination time.
5. If a candidate has a question, the candidate should raise his or her hand and
signal the proctor for help.
6. All DCT LAB test materials including, but not limited to the examination sheet,
work sheet and answer sheet must not be taken out from the lab testing area.
7. If any event occurs during the lab test session, follow the proctors instruction.
8. The proctor retains the right to cancel and stop a candidates lab examination.

Figure 1 is the LAB Scenario you will work with throughout the whole session. Each
candidate is provided with 2 sets of DGS-3627s, 4 sets of DES-3528, 8 RJ45
Ethernet cables and 6 power cords. Please verify and report to the proctor if any of
the specified items is incorrect or missing.

Note:
SWR11 and SWR12 are DGS-3627.
SW13, SW14, SW15, and SW16 are DES-3528.
Each candidate is provided with a LAB work sheet and an answer sheet (for
Troubleshooting Session) during the Lab test session.

ATTENTION: All candidates must hand in their answer sheets for the proctors
review and grading. Please write in PRINT format and keep the answer sheet neat.
Candidates will lose points if the answer sheet or the hand written script is not
readable.

1 D-Link Switch Basics (6 points)


1.1 Configuring Switch Management IP (3 points)
Configure the switch according to the information in Table 1.
a) Switch name (Case Sensitive)

2.2 Configuring GVRP (8 points)


Enable GVRP on SWR11, SWR12, SW13 and SW14. Configure VLAN on SWR11 and
SWR12 based on the information in Table 3.

3 Spanning Tree Protocol (18 points)


Enable port 24 on both SW13 and SW14.
3.1 Configure STP (9 points)
a) Enable RSTP on SWR11, SWR12, SW13 and SW14.
b) Configure port 3 of both SW13 and SW14 as edge port.
c) On the LAB work sheet, mark the root bridge with capital RB.
3.2 Assign Root Bridge (9 points)
a) Configure SWR11 as the primary root bridge
b) Configure SWR12 as the secondary root bridge
c) On the LAB work sheet, mark root port with RP, designated port with DP,
alternate port with AP for SWR1, SWR2, SW3 and SW4.

4 Stacking (8 points)
Configuring logical Stacking
Enable and configure Single IP Management (SIM) on SWR12, SW14 and SW16.
Configure SW14 as the commander and SW16 as the ONLY member switch.

5 Routing Basics (16 points)


5.1 IP address assignment (4 points)
Configure the IP address for both VLAN100 and VLAN200 based on the information
in the Table 4.

5.2 Configuring static route (4 points)


Create a static route on both SWR11 and SWR12 in order for SWR11 and SWR12 to
reach 10.90.11.0 and 10.90.12.0 network.
5.3 Configuring Route Preference (3 points)
On SWR11 and SWR12, change the static route preference to 200.
5.4 Configuring RIP (5 points)
Enable RIP version 2 on both SWR11 and SWR12 and include all interfaces in RIP
routing process.

6 Switch Features (10 points)


6.1 Configuring DHCP server (5 points)

Configure SWR11 as DHCP servers based on the information in the Table 5; SW15 will
be used as DHCP clients. SWR11, SW13, and SW15 will be in VLAN 10 and using
addresses from the network of 10.90.10.0/24.

6.2 Configuring Access Control List (ACL) (5 points)


On SW14, create an IP ACL to deny ICMP traffic from SW16 on port 3.

STOP: As soon as you finish the session, request the LAB proctor to review the
result.

proctors review, candidates can go out or stay at the seat while waiting. Candidates
should not go out too far away as the proctor may require clarification.

Session II Troubleshooting
Total Score: 30 Points
In this session, you need to find out the problems and correct them. There are totally
6 problems across different switches. Document the problems by using the following
format. Its the candidates responsibility to make the hand script readable.
Problem #1: One student is complaining he does not have access to SWR11
What is the issue and how do you solve this problem?

Problem #2: Another student has problem connect to the CLI of SWR12
What is the issue and how do you solve this problem?

Problem #3: Spanning Tree does not block the right port per your original plan.
What is the issue and how do you solve this problem?

Problem #4: There is something wrong with the communication between SWR1
and SWR2.
What is the issue and how do you solve this problem?
