Frequently Asked Questions
Eligibility
1. I have BE/B.Tech degree in a particular branch/specialization. But, this specialization has not
been advertised. Can I apply for MT(T) against any other branch of engineering?
A) We regret that for the post of Management Trainee (Tech), candidates having engineering
degree in disciplines other than those specified (or considered equivalent) in the website are
not eligible.
2. I have an aggregate of 59.99% in BE/B.Tech and I belong to General category. Can I apply?
A) No, as per the criteria prescribed, General and OBC category candidates should secure
minimum 60% marks in the aggregate of all years/semesters.
3. I have studied AMIE and then completed ME. Am I eligible to apply against this advertisement?
A) For the post of Management Trainees, the qualification stipulated is full time regular
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University / Institute. In
view of this, AMIE qualification does not fulfill our requirement and as such, you are not
eligible to apply.
4. I have completed Dual Degree course (B.Tech+M.Tech). Am I eligible to apply?
A) Yes, a candidate with dual degree is eligible to apply, provided he/she fulfills the other
prescribed eligibility criteria.
5. I am an Engineering Graduate meeting all requirements with respect to Qualifications belonging
to the General Category. I am 27 years and 5 days old on 1st April 2015. Am I eligible to apply?
A) Engineering Graduates, belonging to General Category, born before 1st April 1988 are not
eligible to apply.
6. Is there any restriction on number of times a candidate can appear for Management Trainee
conducted by RINL/VSP?
A) No, there is no restriction on number of times a candidate can apply for selection as MT in
RINL-VSP. But the candidate has to fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned in the
advertisement.

7. My institute awards CGPA instead of percentage marks and there is no conversion formula as
per university to convert CGPA into percentage marks. What shall I do?
A) Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA or letter grade in a degree is awarded, equivalent percentage
of marks should be indicated in the application (online) as per norms adopted by University/
Institute. In the absence of any proof of norms adopted by the University/ Institute to
convert CGPA/OGPA/DGPA into percentage, the criteria adopted shall be CGPA of 6.75 out of
10 would be considered as 60% and 5.75 out of 10 as 50%.

Application Procedure
8. I have entered my basic details, uploaded my photograph and signature, downloaded Fees
payment Challan and paid the fees in SBI. However, I did not complete my registration process
by not feeding my balance details in the Online Application system and the last date is over.
What is my status?
A) In the absence of your details like discipline, percentage of marks, etc., your application is
incomplete and you will be considered ineligible although you have a registration number and
paid application fees.
9. I have submitted my application online, but have forgotten the Registration Number and also did
not take print out of the Registration Slip. What do I do?
A) You may visit our website and click on the Download of Registration Slip block and follow the
instructions for obtaining your Registration Number. Using this Registration Number you may
also take print-outs of the Registration Slip on or before 26th May 2015.
10. I have forgotten to take the print out of the registration slip, what should I do now?
A) You can download your registration slip on or before 26th May 2015 by visiting the website
after furnishing your registration number and your Date of Birth as entered by you at the time
of registration.
11. Where do I download the application fee payment Challan?
A) The application fee payment Challan, which is system generated, will be available for
download once a candidate fills in his/her basic details and uploads photograph and signature.
The candidate is required to take printout of the Application Fee payment Challan and deposit
the amount mentioned in any of the nearest SBI Branch in the given account number against
his/her name and the Registration Number given in the Challan. RINL/VSP will not be
responsible for any amount submitted in wrong account/against wrong name/registration
number.

12. Where should the registration slip be sent?


A) The candidates are not required to send any document after registration. The Registration slip
along with original copy of the Application Fee payment Challan (Candidates Copy) is to be
submitted at the time of interview.
13. Can I approach the associate banks of SBI with the Pay-in-Slip and deposit the amount there?
A) No, you have to approach the nearest SBI bank only to deposit the registration amount. No
other associate bank of SBI is authorized to collect the registration amount.
14. I have entered the wrong Email-Id/Category and I want to change it. Is it possible?
A) Once entered and submitted, no personal details can be changed. You have to register again
with another EmailId and Challan to correct your details. Only the last Registration of an
individual will be treated as final and Admit Card will be issued against this Registration
Number.
15. I have paid the Application fees but my Application is not accepted due to less percentage of
marks. Can I transfer my Challan to my friend?
A) Application fees payment Challan is numbered and specific for each person. It cannot be
transferred to another person.
16. After remitting the application fee I found that, I made few mistakes in entering the basic
details, now can I use the same challan to apply again with correct details?
A) No, you cannot use the same challan for registering again, because the challan is specific for a
Registration Number and cannot be reused. You should verify carefully every time before
clicking on SUBMIT button.
17. I have completed the registration process and taken printout of Registration Slip. Now I have
detected that I made a mistake while entering my details. I belong to GEN category. Can I use my
Challan for re-registering?
A) The Challan is specific for a Registration Number and cannot be reused. You should verify
carefully every time before clicking on SUBMIT button.
18. I belong to SC category. I have uploaded my photograph and signature, but due to power
failure, I was unable to complete the registration process online. Now, can I continue and
complete the registration process?
A) Yes, you can continue and complete the registration process. In the left side of the home page,
click on Stage-2 Details Entry option and enter your registration number and date of birth
details, then you can continue and complete the registration process.

19. I have completed B.Tech (Mechanical) in the year 2015 and I have received provisional
certificate dated August 2015, am I eligible to apply for the post?
A) Candidates should be in a position to submit provisional certificate at the time of Interview. In
case candidates fail to produce the same during the interview, their candidature will be
cancelled.

Documents & Certificates


20. I am a SC/ST/OBC candidate but don't have the caste certificate. Can I apply as a General
candidate?
A) If you so desire, you may apply as General Candidate by payment of application fees (if eligible
for General category) giving your category as "GEN". In such an event, your candidature will
be considered as "GEN" and no change in category shall be allowed at a later date.
21. I am working in a Government / Public Sector Company. Should I enclose an NOC from my
employer at the time of applying for the written test?
A) Candidates presently employed in Central/State Government departments, PSUs,
Autonomous bodies should be able to submit No Objection Certificate at the time of
Interview. You may accordingly apply.

Written test and Others


22. Will any Travelling Allowance be paid to me for attending the written test?
A) You have to attend the written test at your own expense and no travelling allowance is
payable for the same.
23. I have already opted for a Centre for the written test. Can I change the centre now?
A) The test centers once entered cannot be changed.
24. What will be the cut-off marks in the written examination?
A) Cut-off marks for candidate belonging to General category is 50% and for SC/ ST/ OBC
candidates is 40%.
25. Would there be negative marking in the test?
A) No, there is no negative marking in the test.
26. Can I get last years question paper or sample questions?
A) RINL/VSP does not provide last years question paper or sample question. However, a few
sample questions will be displayed in the test guidelines which would be available along with
the admit card on the net.

27. Will RINL/VSP refunds the Application fees in case my candidature is rejected due to any reason?
A) No, application fees once deposited is not refundable for any reason.
28. If I am finally selected in RINL/VSP, could I get the extension in joining time?
A) The training program for all the Management Trainees will begin simultaneously. Being a
structured program, no extension in joining period is allowed. Candidates failing to report on
the day of medical examination, or leaving the hospital premises without completing the
process of medical examination, or failing to report on the scheduled date of joining, will be
considered as not interested to join VSP as Management Trainee and their selection will be
cancelled without any notice.
29. Do we need to sign a Service / Surety Bond at the time of joining?
A) No, there is no Service / Surety Bond.
