DAMPING MECHANISM FOR TRACKING SYSTEM OF SOLAR PANELS

ABSTRACT

This The Invention invention relates to the tracking system of Solar solar
panels, a system which will cause better alignment of Photo photovoltaic (PV) array with
sun light and to harvest solar power more efficiently without any need for input power.
Damping Mechanism mechanism is used to drive the solar panel for directing direct
inclination to the sun rays during the day and with attachedwhich is also attached with
processes of fluid machineryies. The tracker works with the concept of a seesaw or torque
balancing.

The counterweight is composed of a water container with a Siphoning

siphoning device which serves as the a sensing device, device; this controls the amount of
water in the container and acts as a water clock for the discharging process during the day
and refilling process at night.
The discharge rate of the container is proportional to the tilting rate of the panel
during the day for tracking the sun. The supply tank is connected to the tap water which
provides continues continuous intake of water for the container, the discharged water from
the container is then directs directed to the storage tank. The damping mechanism controls

the tilting of the panel and is responsible for returning the panel to its initial position in the
morning.

SUMMARY OF THE

DESCRIPTION INVENTION

This The Solar solar tracking system is designed to drive the panel for following
of suns movement to increase power output. The tilting process of the panel 3 is due to a
weight balancing of the water container 2 and the damping device 4. The process begins
with the initial position at 6am where the panel 3 is facing east. The container 2 is
initially full and is connected to the supply tank 1. at At the same time water is being
discharged by the siphoning device 8. The intake water from the supply tank 1 to the
container 2 and the discharged water are all controlled by a valve 7. The ratio of the
discharged to the intake water is twice, twice; since the discharged is larger, then the water
in the container 2 is drain. The draining rate of water is proportional to the tilting of the

panel 3 which is supported by its base;, the damper 4 controls the tilting action of the
panel 3. At 6pm the final position of the panel is 60 facing west and the container 2 is
alreadybecomes the drain causing the siphoning device 8 to stop discharging.
The continues continuous intake of water from the supply tank 1 causes the
container 2 to get heavier again compared with the force exerted by the damper 4 making
the panel 3 tilt again goingfacing east., Atby 6am the container 2 is full againwill be full
and already reachedwill reach its initial position facing east at 60. This process repeats as
long as the supply tank 1 is connected to a tap water. The discharged water is connected
to the storage tank 6 with a faucet., Wwhen the water in the storage tank 6 is not
enoughenough; tap water may be directly connected to the faucet for other usage.

CLAIMS

1. We claim: 1. The A Solar solar tracker through a damping mechanism designed to

drive the solar panel for directing to the sun rays during the day without any input
power, ; maximizing the energy output of the solar panel. The A mechanism only
driven by the force of gravity, wherein two different weightweights is being
balanced in on both ends of the panel. The damperA damper is responsible for
returning the panel to its initial position.
2. A solar tracking system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the a damper is being
countered by a water container attached on the other side for tilting the panel
directing to the sun rays throughout the day.
3. The A water container according to claim 2 which has a water intake from the
supply tank and is being discharge to the storage tank.
4. The A water container according to claim 2 which has a siphoning device in a Utube form which is responsible for discharging the water; and controls the amount
of water in the container.
5. The A solar tracking system as claimed in claim 1 which is composed of a very
simple and devices and mechanism attached together to form a system that could
directly face to the sun rays in a single axis.
