John Brown patented 220 acres in Kingsale SwarnpApril 29, 1692 (17C. -692). In 1706, as John Browne, Sr-, , and Bridgett
his wife, he sold to Samuel Cannady 220 acres, the plantation
he lately lived on, patented April 29, 1692, in L. P. Kinsale.

'l~omas Browne, son of John Browne and his wife Ann Williams, made his will in Southampton, Nov.28, 1764, recorded Jan. 11 , 1765. He mentioned: daughters Mourning and Holland, son JESSE; daugher SARAH MIAL if she dies without heirs to
her husband THOMAS MIAL, revision to her daughter-s TABITHA and MARTHA Exum, daus. MARTHA ALLEN and SARAH ALLEN. Exrs. son Jesse and James A.llen. Wits.: Thomas Stephenson, Simon Stephenson, Arthur Allen. (C. I-60)
Thomas Browne did not mention his wife. Her name was TABITHA., for Jesse Br-own, her son, signed the inventory of her estate, ordered March 2, 1765, recorded Jan. 14, 1767 (C-I-72). She had preceded her husband in death, probably dying a few days
before him. .

Children by first husband were: Tabitha Exum married Benjamin Smith. Her sister Martha Exum married John Srp ith, Jr. (See explanation later. )

Martha Exum married a John Smith, Jr., son of Colonel John Smith of Johnston County, North Carolina, b.16.99,;; d.1771't, who was a member of the Assembly, 1749; Clerk of the House of the Assembly 1750, was on the Committee of Safety and a Lieutenant 'Colonel of Militia 1776.
