As children come into the class, teacher says Chairs


Hello and smiles. She encourages them to
say Hello in response. She introduces herself.
She asks one child to stand up and say hello
to him/her. She encourages the child to
respond with Hello.
Children turn to speak to the children next to
them and say hello.
Teacher points to herself and says: Hello!
My name is .. What is your name?
She encourages them to do the same in pairs,
greeting each other and saying their names.
She also says Stand up and indicates to the
class to stand at their seats. Say Sit down and
indicate for them to sit again.
Teacher says Open your books and she
demonstrates them what to do. They follow
her and open the books. She points to the
characters and pronounces their names
Rosy, Tim, Billy, Miss Jones
Children listen, point and repeat.
She puts flashcards 1 4 in an envelope. She
brings them out one at a time and says the
names for children to repeat in chorus.
She says Hello Rosy and children repeat.
They do the same for all characters. As she
brings out each flashcard, children respond
with Hello, Tim! Etc.
