Two babies in the womb debate whether life exists after birth. Baby 1 is skeptical, arguing that there is no evidence of anything beyond the womb and that they are fed through the umbilical cord. Baby 2 believes stories of a world with light, joy, emotions, and eating with a mouth after birth. While unable to prove what comes next, Baby 2 takes comfort in believing their mother will care for them after birth starts their true life.

- Baby 1: Hey, do you believe in life after birth?
- Baby 2: Of course. It is obvious that life after birth exists. We are here to become strong and to prepare to what awaits us after birth.
- Baby 1: Pfff All this is nonsense! There is nothing
after birth! What would life outside of the womb look like anyway?
- Baby 2: Well, there many stories about the other
side people say that, there is a lot of light, a lot of joy and emotions thousands of things to live For example, apparently, there, we will eat with our mouths!
- Baby 1: Whatever! We have our ombilical cord, and
that is what feeds us. Everyone knows that! And of course, no one ever came back from the other side, so these are stories from naive people. Life just simply stops when we are born, and thats how it is, we have to accept it.
- Baby 2: Well, allow me to think otherwise. It is true, I
do not know exactly what will this life after birth will look like, and I cannot prove anything to you. But I like to believe, that in the life that is coming after, we will see our Mother and she will take care of us.
- Baby 1: Mother?! You mean to say you believe in
Mother?! AH! And where is she then????
- Baby 2: But, she is everywhere! You can see! She is
everywhere, around us! We are made of her, and it is thanks to her that we live. Without her, we would not be here!
- Baby 1: This is absurd! I have never seen a Mother, so
it is obvious she does not exist.
- Baby 2: I dont agree with you, thats your point of
view. Because when we become all calm, we can hear her when she sings. We can feel it when she caresses our world. I am certain that our True Life starts after we are born Source | Henri Nouwen, Our Greatest Gift, A Meditation on Dying and Caring (Harper One, 2009) pages 18-19.
