CLASS N 1

LESSON I

WARM UP 15
Group Dynamics: Whole class interaction
Material: Poster, flashcards.

The teacher will do the date routine but in a different way. She will
bring a poster in which they have to select the correct day, date, month
and also the weather. She will ask them to select a number from a bag
and once they have done it, she will search through the roll the kid that
takes that number. That student will be in charge of selecting correct the
date and the weather.

Then, under the title of colourful body, she will stick some
flashcards on the board which contain pictures of the parts of the body
and a colour below. She will say to her students that they are going to
play a game. She will ask them to stand up and whenever she says a

certain colour they have to touch the part of their body that represents
that colour.

The purpose of this activity is the revision of the vocabulary


needed to presentone of the teaching points: physical descriptions.

If the students do not know the vocabulary, the teacher will hand
in a copy containing the lexical items and the picture representing them.
The teacher will hand in the following copy containing the

Materials: blurred images.

The teacher will ask the students if they like cartoons. Then, she
will present the topic by using the blurred images of some characters
from the students favourite cartoon series.

She will stick the blurred images on the board and ask the
students to guess the characters.
Once they have discovered them, she will stick the characters on
the board with their physical description.

Materials: chalk, board.

The teacher will read the description and will isolate the new
lexical items. Then, she will ask the students to guess the meaning. She
can help them by using opposites and drawing in the board or even
gesturing.
For instance: big and small

Then, she will elicit the structure:


HAIR: LENGTH + COLOUR + hair
EYES: COLOUR + eyes
NOSE/EARS/MOUTH: BIG/MEDIUM/SMALL +
nose/ears/mouth
She will also highlight the use of have/has got. She will elicit the
function by asking the students: Are we talking about Likes and
Dislikes or about Physical Description? Then, she will write the
function on the board.
After that she will elicit the structure and write in on the board.

To check if they have understood properly, the students will be


given a short exercise in which they will have to put the new lexical

Mimicry game

Group dynamics: Group work


Material: dice, flashcards.
The teacher will divide the class into 5 groups. She will ask them to
throw the dice, and the group who has the highest number is the first to
participate. They will select two members to go to the front. The teacher will
ask them to take out a flashcard from a bag and they will have to mime the
feeling it contains. E.g. if they have to mime the feeling sad one of them can
laugh of his/her classmate while the other pretends to be crying. If the group
guesses the feeling and says the word in English has 2 points. If they guess it
but says the word in Spanish, the teacher will ask them to repeat the word in
English and they will have 1 point. If they do not guess it, another group will
have the chance guess it and win the points.

Storytelling

students that they are going to read a story, and
will give them some clues for them to guess
what it is going to be about.

with bullies. Superhero style. Then, she will ask them what they think a
bully is. They will probably associate the word with the term bullying.
Now, she will divide the board in two categories: bully and
superhero. Then, she will take some flashcards with good actions and
bad actions, she will ask the students where they should be placed, she
will ask a random student to come to the front and stick the flashcard in
the correct category.
