Second model: simplified tubular structure with three concept components connected
In the second concept model of the cross car beam structure, Figure 4.35, three structural
components were added to the first model structure, namely the passanger airbag bracket,
the steering column and the center leg bracket that allows the connection to vehicle floor.
Solid elements were used in this model. Mesh was individually generated for each 4
components of the structure. Afterwards, all the components are assembled, Figure 4.36, in
order to apply loads and boundary conditions in the global structure.
The loads applied in this second model are exactly the same as those applied in the first,
with same direction and the same magnitude. The only difference lies in the point of application since they are two models with different geometries. Concerning the boundary
conditions, the central leg base is fixed. The tops of the main beam remain fixed as well .
