Math Center Based Activities

Purpose
This year I will have three centers. I want to make a chart in order to tell
students what group they will be in. I want to create I can charts for each
center. I want to have times for each center and a sound in order to
indicate students are to switch. The centers I will use are iPad, Teacher
and Fact Power. Teacher students will be up at my table with me. For iPad
students will be in an APP called Dreambox. This year our grade is flex
grouping again for math and I will have the lower group of students. Because
I have the lower group I will have a Title math assistant in my room everyday.
She will lead the Fact Power station.

Classroom Management
After we group our students I will make a seating chart so no more than two
students per group is a t a table. The expectation is that voice levels will
be either a level 1 or 0. There will be assigned areas for each center. During
Teacher, the students will be up at my table. For iPad students will be at
their table. For fact power they will be in the back of the room. When
students are playing games there will be blue tape on the floor to indicate
where they are to sit.

Accountability
Each center will look differently as far as accountability for the students.
When students are in teacher or the fact power station they will be with the
teacher so the students will receive positive reinforcement and gator bucks
in order to keep them active in their learning. During iPad will be when
students are working independently, and during this time students are to
work on Dreambox. If students hit their goal of working 90 minutes each
week then they are rewarded with a Godfathers coupon, in this way they
are responsible for their own learning. These students will also be rewarded
with gator bucks and positive reinforcement. Whenever they are given
independent work they will need to turn it into an adult as well.

Assessment
Assessment will look different for each station. Within iPad students are to
play an APP called Dreambox. This APP has a teachers dashboard where I
can see each students time on task, completion of activities, if they need
assistance and when they are working inefficiently.

During Teacher and Fact Power stations I have created a checklist with the
students names. It also has columns to mark redirections, got it and needs
more instruction.

Math Centers Pocket Chart

The three groups of students are listed down the left side of the chart:
Thing 1, Thing 2 and Thing 3. The row is what center each group will be in.
In order to help students understand which center they are in, center one is
red, center two is blue and center three is yellow. To show which center
students are in I will take pictures of the students doing these tasks at the
beginning of the year.

Teacher
During this station the teacher will work with students more in depth on the
skill that was taught whole group. The teacher will use different
manipulatives and be able to monitor the students with manipulatives.
Teachers will work on the math journal with students. Teacher will complete
math boxes with students. Teacher will test students during this time. The
teacher can use the checklist to assess redirections, if a student has got
the concept and if the student needs more instruction.

the teacher or an activity that they will bring into the room. These activities
will revolve around number sense or the indicator (standard) test.

Number Sense
To start the beginning of the year the Title Math helper will work on
students with establishing number sense. They will do this by doing these
different games.

Indicator Activities
I have collected all the different activities I have done and put them on
Google Drive. Here are the activities that will be used during this station by
chapter.
