Missionary Cooperation Plan

Next weekend, we will welcome Sister Irene
Cullen of the Society of the Sacred Heart to
share her story of the mission work of her
community.
Her congregation serves Gods people in 42
countries around the world. The Sisters in
Uganda and Kenya serve as Catholic educators,
as well as social workers, village clinic nurses,
counselors, and in Catechetical ministry.
Special envelopes can be found in the pews and
you are invited to support this missionary effort
as you feel inspired. Your contribution will
make a big difference and will insure that those
in need will continue to be aided by the Sisters
Gospel of Mercy.

Fall Festival
Last year's Fall Festival was a roaring success with
the parish raising over $50,000 in the three-day
event. This year we hope to do even better but in
order to do so, we need everyone's help. If you are
interested in helping with the event, please come to

Each year, approximately 6,000 young girls are

forced into prostitution in San Diego County.

A presentation on trafficking victims will be given

by Grace Williams from Children of the
Immaculate Heart on Thursday, July 21, 6:30
p.m.8:00 p.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Church,
7669 Girard Ave., in La Jolla.
She will discuss the current efforts being taken by
the church in opening a treatment facility and
shelter for female minors in San Diego County.
Programs that supply professional therapy,
schooling and job training in a health, family-style
atmosphere are know to reduce trauma disorders,
addiction, and suicide.
Please join us to learn, share and discuss ways to get
involved. Refreshments will be served and donations
accepted. There is no charge for the event.
