Find the optimum integer solution to the following LPP

Question No2
ABC company purchases raw material from outside supplier for its annual requirement. During the
current year, the company wishes to manufacture, at a constant rate, 100000 units of its product. The cost
of placing each order is Rs. 160. For any item in inventory, the company uses an annual carrying cost
equal to 20 % of the items cost. The product costs Rs. 20 each. Answer the following questions:

What is the optional order size?


What is the total inventory cost?
How many orders will be placed in the next year?
If the company decides to order for raw material only twice a month, how much of a cost penalty
would it suffer, in percent?
Suppose that an ordering cost of only Rs.80 had been used instead of the correct value of Rs. 160
What would the order size have been?
How would the total cost have changed?

Question No3
A shop has six machines. Two jobs must be processed by each of them. Find the order should
jobs be done on each of the machines to minimize the finishing time.

Consider the game of matching coins. Two players A and B each put down a coin. If the coins
match i.e. both are heads or both are tails, A gets rewarded otherwise B gets rewarded. However,

matching on heads gives double premium. Obtain the best strategies for both players and the
value of the game.
