Productivity Councils. The Employment Officer, who plays a pro-active role, contacts
the industries in the private sector for their requirement of personnel. He then calls
those jobseekers registered at the exchanges and who possess the required
qualifications to the Bharti Mela, where the private employers take their interviews.
Advertisements of these Bharti Melas are released in the local dailies as well as the
information of these Melas is available at the concerned Employment Exchanges and
also at their web pages news bulletin.
Career Corners
This scheme is for students studying in the schools and colleges in rural and urban
areas. A total of 2000 careers i.e. 1845 for schools and 155 for colleges have been
sanctioned under this scheme. Detailed information in this regard shall be available
from the nearby employment offices. Under this schemes vocational guidance
volunteers are selected from amongst the teachers of the educational institutions
and they render vocational guidance services to the students of the concerned
institution. Honorarium is given to the volunteering teachers for this purpose. The
employment office also keeps constant touch with the volunteering teachers taking
of such activities of the career corner. Together, they arrange career discourses,
perents meeting, seminar, etc. For smooth and effective functioning of the career
corners, career related literature, Employment News and other relevant magazines
are also provided.
Counselling
Career and Vocational Guidance to the jobseekers is the other most important
activity carried out by the employment exchanges.
(B ) For Employers:
Notification of vacancy
As mentioned earlier all establishments having more than 25 or more employees are
required to notify the vacancies in their organization to the local exchanges.
However, those establishments who are not statutorily obliged to inform the
exchanges about the vacancies can have access to the database of the registered
jobseekers on this web site.
