Dedication

This thesis is dedicated to my best friends, Aya, Cris, Gagay, Novie, Noan,
Mabs, Divina, Soccii and Noan who have always been a constant source of
support and encouragement during the challenges of my whole college
life. Also to my brothers and Aunts whom I am truly grateful for having in
my life. This work is also dedicated to my parents, Margie and Genesis,
who have always loved me unconditionally and whose good examples
have taught me to work hard for the things that I aspire to achieve.

Acknowledgement
First and foremost, I have to thank my parents for their love and support
throughout my life. Thank you both for giving me strength to reach for the
stars and chase my dreams. My brothers, aunties, uncles and cousins
deserve my wholehearted thanks as well.

I would like to sincerely thank my thesis adviser, Arch. Enrique Sta. Maria,
for his guidance and support throughout this study and specially for his
confidence in me.

To all my friends, thank you for your understanding and encouragement in

many, many moments of crisis. Your friendship makes my life a wonderful
experience. I cannot list all the names here, but you are always on my
mind.

Thank you, Lord, for always being there for me.

This thesis is only a beginning of my journey.

Abstract

The City of Masbate is a third class city in the province of Masbate,

Philippines. It is the only city in the province that serves as its City Provincial Capital.
Due to its developing economy and resurging local tourism, the concept of linkages
with other island provinces has been helpful for its continuing growth. With the citys
aim of an effective transport system as a tool for its successful tourism project, the
redevelopment of its Ferry Terminal system will integrate its economic advancement.

Budget airfares are common now, but undeniably, travelling via ferries is still a
popular choice among local tourist because of its inexpensiveness and the adventure it
offers. Our current ferry system right now can accommodate the demands in terms of
passenger and cargo volume, the problem lies with the lack of support facilities,
problems such as overcrowding in terminals, handling and safekeeping of cargoes are
common.
Part of a developing City is its need for the establishment of commercial
districts, strategic planning of sustainable facilities and promotion of tourist
destinations. Considering that progress in the City is already in place, sustainability
and innovation must be composed and practiced through the adaptation of related
architectural solutions that utilize the progress of a redevelopment project. The
proposed ferry terminal of the town is located in its capital where business and
economic progress are on its peak and the enhancement of tourist facilities exists
which definitely connects and influence peoples way of living.
