Eye-wash stations and emergency showers are present and in working order
Work space is adequately ventilated
Presence of GHS labels on containers
Availability of the right Material Safety Data Sheets
Containers are properly closed when moved or stored

Use correct Personal Protective Equipment that is in good condition
Secure the area with barriers (e.g. red-white barrier tape)
Ensure only a minimum amount of materials at the workplace at any time
Keep the work area clean and tidy
Clean up spilled chemicals directly
Dispose of chemicals properly (i.e. hazardous waste)

DO NOT
Undertake any work if you are not qualified
Block escape routes
Eat or drink during work
Mix chemicals without knowing if a reaction may occur
Inter-change containers or bottle caps

Store acids and alkalies together


Store chemicals near a heat source

Always use your common sense before and during the performance of your task
