the TAR University College without prior notice and assigning any reason thereof.

Course work 1: Mid-Term Test (20 marks)


The test consists of two sections, Section A, 10 compulsory objectives questions and Section B,
4 compulsory short answer questions. The duration of the exam is 45 minutes and the topic cover from
Lecture 1- 5. The test will be held in Week 6 (during tutorial session).

Course work 2: Group Assignment (50 marks)


Guidelines for team formation
1.Students are to organise among themselves into teams of 3-4 members (please note that project
submitted by team less than 3 or more than 4 students must have approval from respective Tutors). All
teams should be formed and names of team members be submitted to Tutor by Week 3. Students who
are not members of any team shall be assigned to any team by the Tutors.
2.Changing of team member is NOT allowed after the submission of team members names.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Students are required to work in a team of 3-4 members.
2. Assignment must be typed written in Arial or Times New Roman font, sized 12, and at 1.5 line
spacing.
3. Word count (excluding the references and appendices) should not be more than 3000 words and
should not be less than 2500 words. Word count must be stated at the end of the report.
4. Please indicate on the cover page the project title, tutorial group, team members names, index
no, course code & title and the date of submission.
5. Every page must be paginated commencing from Table of Content and in numeric. Page
numbering to be placed on the bottom centre of the page.
6. Mode of Referencing: Harvard Referencing System approved by Tunku Abdul Rahman
University College Department of Quality Assurance.(Refer the website)
7. Plagiarism involves copying materials from other sources without acknowledging the original
authors. TAR University College treats plagiarism as a serious offence. Strict disciplinary action
will be taken against students, which may result in failure of coursework.
8. Prior to submission, students are required to upload the soft copy of the written report to
SafeAssign in CEL to check for plagiarism and attach together the first page of plagiarism report
together with your written assignment.
9. Written assignment without the SafeAssign report will NOT be accepted. Plagiarism threshold is
15%. Students are also required to sign the Plagiarism Statement and submit together with the
written assignment.
10. Date of submission: Week 10.
11. The coursework marks and feedback will be released in Week 13.

Penalty for Late Submission


Late submission will be imposed a penalty of 10% per day late from the written report marks on daily
basis.

Assessment Criteria
Written assignment is assessed on the criteria listed in Assessment Matrix in Appendix III.
WARNING!
Students who are caught for plagiarism will have to re-do the entire assignment within a week. The
mark of the second submission is capped at 50 marks.
Group Written Report Instructions
You are required to choose a company and conduct a research based on the area listed in the question
below. The company chosen must be a Malaysian based company from any industry background.
This assignment will provide you an opportunity to examine the impact of effective management on the
overall success of an organisation.
a) Students are required to identify the organisation mission/vision and type of business ownership of the
organisation. Students are also required to identify the type of industry the organisation are attached
with and include organization chart, CEO of the organisation and the history of company.
b) Students needs to identify the overall measurements of success for the company, example what are
the strategies seem to be guiding the overall direction or success of the company.
c) From the research, students are required to identify what are the most important ways in which
managing (planning, leading, organising, controlling) has contributed to this companys success?
d) Identify the organisation working culture which would help to motivate the employees to perform
better in their work.
e) Students need to identify the leadership style used by the leader of the organisation and identify at
least ONE (1) Leadership Model/Theory that have been learned.

Course work 3: Individual presentation (30 marks)

Students are required to present their final group assignment. Assessment will be held on week 10 during
tutorial session. Group work will be presented and marks awarded based on individual performance.
Power point presentation slides are the fundamental requirement for all students.
Power point slides limit to maximum 20 slides with the presentation time of 20-25 minutes for each group
including Q&A session. Presentation is assessed using the Presentation Assessment matrix as per
Appendix IV.
