Teaching and Learning Activities:

Whats the occupations/ Identify occupations
1. Teacher plays a song entitled Mister Postman by The Beetles and asks
the pupils to listen and guess the occupation mentioned in the song.
Listen to the song carefully
Guess the occupation

2. Teacher informs pupils that they are going to learn the topic of
occupation.
Today were going to learn about occupation

3. Teacher shows a powerpoint slide of an occupation and asks pupils to

name it.
Children...look at the screen
Can you name this occupation

4. Teacher models the correct pronunciation of the word and gets the
pupils to repeat for at least three times.
Repeat after me....policeman...
One more time...policeman...

5. Teacher corrects pupils pronunciation if there is a need.

6. Teacher calls two or three pupils to say out the word. Praise them for
trying and getting the pronunciation of the word correct.
Aziz...can you say the word again...

7. Teacher elicits information about the occupation shown in the
powerpoint slide by asking Wh questions.

8. Teacher encourages them to speak by saying well done and

excellent as they answer the question correctly and by saying try
again if they answer incorrectly.

9. Repeat steps 3-8 for other occupations.

Who am I?
1. Teacher pastes the picture cards of 10 occupations on the board and
10 word cards on the table.
2. Teacher calls a pupil forward and asks him/her to take a word card on
the table.
Aziz...please come forward.
Pick one card
Show the card to your friends

3. The pupil shows the card to the class and say the word out loud.
Say the word loudly.

4. Teacher corrects pupils pronunciation if there is a need.

5. Teacher asks the pupil to paste the word card to the right picture card
on the board. Praise him/her if he/she puts it correctly.
Now...paste the word to the correct picture

6. Teacher asks the pupil to call his/her friends name for other
occupations.
Alright Aziz...now call one of your friends name to come
forward

7. Repeat steps 2-6
