Mention the purpose of your invitation.
Are you inviting the recipient to a wedding? A birthday party? Write the kind of
event, and the people involved. (i.e. who is getting married? Whose birthday?)

Clearly state the exact date, time and location.
If there's a special significance, you may also include an explanation of why you
chose the date, time, or location.

Mention who else is invited.
If the recipient can bring guests, mention how many. You can also extend the
invitation to specific other family members.

Explain a little about the event.
Mention if there are any special requirements in dress code or if the recipient will
need to bring anything. Include a brief description of the event.

Request a confirmation.
Use the phrase 'R.S.V.P. by' and give a date. You can also use 'please reply if you
can attend' or 'let us know at your earliest convenience'.
