A private educational trust wishes to construct a high school in cannanore city. To start with,
it will be a small but will be expanded in due course. The site is flat and rectangular 100 m X
60 m. the longer side of the site abuts a 12 m wide road on the east. The school has to be
designed so as to have both ground and first floors. The requirements are as follows:1. 8 class rooms for 40 students each

EXERCISE- 7

A Nationalized Bank wants to construct a branch building in a small town. The plot
purchased is 25 m (E-W) and 33 m (N-S) with a 12 m road on the south and 7 m road on the
east. The general space requirements are given below. A variation upto 10% is permissible.
Banking hall: area 150sqm should accommodate public, counter, tellers for cash, managers
cabin and accountants cabin. Record room 20 sqm area and store room 15 sqm area. A
recreation cum lunch room of 20 sqm area is necessary. Staff toilets attached to the recreation
room for gents and ladies are also needed. Toilets for public are also needed. Strong room
area 35sqm, 15 sqm of this for cash chest and 20 sqm is for safe deposit lockers. Entry to the
strong room can be from banking hall. Cash chest area have another door opening from the
safe deposit locker room. two steel doors of size 120 cm x 220 cmare to be provided at the
entry to the lockers room and to the cash chest room from locker room. Alround walls of the
strong room should be 30 cm thick RCCwall. The roof slab above the strong room is 20 cm
thick and at floor level 10 cm thick RCC slab is to be provided over a 20 cm bed of plain
concrete. A watchmans station outside also is to be planned. Make provisions for extending
the bank to the first floor.
Draw to a scale of 1:100, the plan at sill level, front elevation and cross section of the bank
building. Show counters and cabins in the plan.
EXERCISE- 8
Design a primary health centre given the following data. Assume suitable dimensions and
specifications.
Site details:- site 40 m (E-W) x 25 m (N-S) with long side abutting 12 m road on the south.
Minimum statutory open spaces are to be left around the building.
