WORK, VOLUNTEER, AND LIFE EXPERIENCE
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSIS TANT // HOPE LEARNING ACADEM Y: A DIVISION OF THE CAN ADIAN
INSTITUTE OF MINORIT Y YOUTH DEVELOPMENT // CALGARY AB // MID 2014-CURRENT
My position includes/has included creating registration forms for the 2014-2015, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017
school years; designing brochures; creating posters; designing and mailing invitations; creating the academy's
website; bookkeeping and making monetary transactions (with both cash and cheques); designing report card
templates; designing graduation, awards, and appreciation certificates; creating miscellaneous documents (field
trip forms, etc.); maintaining databases; coordinating volunteers; and photographing events. As administrative
assistant, I am often required to work in and coordinate small to medium-sized groups, vastly improving my ability
to lead as well as compromise, collaborate with others, and respond appropriately to authority. Moreover, this
position has seen me compose several mass emails to both staff and parents. This has improved my ability to
produce clear, formal, purposeful writing. I have also been tasked with creating both text and photo tutorials to
assist staff members in completing certain tasks, which has improved my ability to explain sometimes complex
processes in a manner that is clear, simple, and accessible. Finally, the simply enormous number and diversity of
computer files that I have had to store, view, create, and manipulate as part of this position has markedly
improved my organizational skills on and off the computer. Finally, as administrative assistant, I served as the de
facto FAQ Center for parents, students, volunteers, and inquirers who had questions or sought assistance. This
has effectively honed my ability as an employee in the realm of customer service and relations.
YOUTH VOLUNTEER // PETER LOUGHEED CENTER // CALGARY AB // LATE 2015-CURRENT
Working as a youth volunteer at the PLC has honed and fine-tuned my ability to uphold a regularly scheduled
commitment, work in small to medium-sized groups, and execute assigned tasks efficiently while upholding my
normal duties.
BASKETBALL PLAYER // SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM // C ALGARY AB // LATE 2012CURRENT
I have been playing organized basketball for four years. Each and every one of them has played a tremendous role
in shaping my character in terms of confidence, commitment, physical fitness, and punctuality. However, this year
has been particularly influential. As a senior, I assumed a greater leadership role this year, and this has most
certainly had a marked effect on my leadership and interpersonal skills as well as my ability to respond
productively to meaningful criticism.
CO-PRESIDENT // HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT GOVERNMENT AS SOCIATION // CALGARY AB // LATE
2014-CURRENT
I have been president of my schools student council for the last two years. Having to fulfill the responsibilities of
this demanding yet rewarding position, in addition to my familial, academic, and athletic obligations has no doubt
tuned my ability to manage my time and work efficiently with deadlines. Additionally, this experience has
enhanced my leadership ability by increasing the extent to which I can effectively utilize the strengths and
preferences of the members of my team to ensure that our task is completed as proficiently as possible. As Vicepresident, I am expected to work with strict deadlines to deliver specific action items, and I am accountable for

these before all my fellow students. This means that my work has to be of great quality and that this quality must
be delivered within certain time frames. Again, my interpersonal skills were vastly improved.
