Hans Boxler Sr, 81, a lifelong farmer and founder of Hidden Valley Animal Adventure died unexpectedly
on July 17. Hans Sr. worked with animals his entire life. He understood that their care was a priority and
was open in sharing his compassion with the thousands of visitors who came to Hidden Valley Animal
‘Adventure. At the same time, he understood that safety was also important for himself, his family and
employees and the general public. He respected the innate nature of his animals, and therefore
followed a routine daily, which is why this tragic accident is such a shock. We will never know exactly
what happened. Clearly, it was something out of the ordinary that caused the animal's reaction that
occurred in an animal management area that was not accessible to the public. Hidden Valley will
continue to take every step we can to uphold the ideals of care that Hans Sr. lived by during his long life.
Hans's lifelong passion was to farm and work with animals. He wanted to share his passion for God's
animals with others which encouraged him to create his own Noah’s Ark at Hidden Valley Animal
‘Adventure. Since its incarnation thousands have enjoyed various animals from around the world. He
enjoyed visiting with guests, many of whom travelled from great distances. His greatest reward was
listening to and seeing their enjoyment with his animals and the beautiful setting he created at Hidden
Valley. He was very proud of all his staff who took the time to ensure his animals and guests were all
treated as VIP’s every day. Hans was a very successful dairy farmer and was well respected throughout
the community.
Calling hours will be held at The Lodge at Hidden Valley Animal Adventure on Monday, July 25 and

Joachim and Anne church in Varysburg. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's cemetery behind the

cause many visitors. We appreciate your support at this very dificult time.
