Subsea Integrity Market Series:

Survey Findings & Analysis
Following Part I of the Subsea Integrity Market Series in which we took an indepth look at the subsea integrity market trends, challenges and opportunities
DecomWorld posed the most pivotal questions directly to a cross-section of senior
subsea industry experts from across the globe.
Operators are continuing to push the boundaries when it comes to both
subsea operating environment and lifetime. Growing deepwater, HPHT and
long-offset activity is driving a huge demand for more reliable systems, whilst
subsea brownfield developments require the necessary support to ensure useful
remaining life is safely and economically extended. Understanding how we can
maximize subsea production efficiency amongst these activities is critical for
operators to achieve production goals and avoid failures.
In constructing the survey we have attempted to gain a consensus of the biggest
issues and developments in the subsea integrity arena, including:

Subsea Environmental Challenges

Subsea Asset Failure Rates
Asset Integrity Strategy Limitations
Inspection and Monitoring Technology Opportunities
Industry Trends Impacting Subsea Integrity

These high-level survey findings have been produced in conjunction with the 2nd
Annual Subsea Integrity Conference (September 24-25, Houston) the only Gulf
of Mexico meeting point to address the challenges, strategies and opportunities
associated with maximizing subsea integrity across the entire subsea & SURF
portfolio.

Conclusion
In carrying out this survey, we have been able to clearly isolate and prioritize key challenges and opportunities experienced
first-hand by the subsea community.
Subsea processing, subsea tiebacks, deepwater operations and brownfield developments are key areas of focus for the
operators right now. The ability for contractors to provide tailored integrity solutions within these areas will be key to their
growth within the subsea space.
The shift towards monitoring (vs. inspection) is also a trend identified from the responses, especially in providing asset
integrity support for subsea control modules and umbillicals. Condition performance monitoring solutions are evidently the
next step that the industry is taking in ensuring optimized subsea operations.
In developing the most robust subsea integrity management strategy, its clear that anticipating and preventing early life
failures, effectively supporting brownfield developments, implementing a lifecycle approach to integrity management and
gathering subsea data must all form the core focus in order to effectively maximize production uptime and reduce failures.
All these themes, challenges, opportunities and strategies will be discussed in-depth at this years 2nd Annual Subsea Integrity
Conference, taking place in Houston on September 24-25.
