Kliya-damana-dvgni-mokana
Subduing Kliya and Extinguishing the Forest Fire
Text 1
ekada balakai sardha
baladeva vina hari
jagama yamuna-tra
yatra kaliya-mandiram
ekada - one day; balakai - boys; sardha - with; baladeva Balarma; vina - without; hari - Kna; jagama - went; yamuna - of
the Yamuna; tram - to the shore; yatra - where; kaliya-mandiram - the
home of Kliya.
One day, with the boys and without Balarma, Lord Kna went to
the Yamun's hore, to the place where Kaliya had his home.
Text 2
paripakva-phala bhuktva
yamuna-traje vane
svecchamayas tt-partas
cakhada nirmala jalam
paripakva - ripe; phala - fruit; bhuktva - eating; yamuna-traje - on
the Yamun's shore; vane - in the forest; svecchamayas - as He wished;
tt-partas - thirsty; cakhada - drank; nirmala - clear; jalam - water.
He ate some fruit from the forest by the Yamun's shore and He
drank the clear water.

gokula kalayam asa
iubhi saha kanane
vijahara ca tai sardha
sthapayam asa gokulam
gokula - the cows; kalayam asa - herded; iubhi - boys; saha with; kanane - in the forest; vijahara - played; ca - and; tai - with
them; sardha - with; sthapayam asa - placed; gokulam - the cows.
As He watched over the cows, He played with the boys in the
forest.

kra-nimagna-citto 'ya
balaka ca mudanvita
bhuktva nava-tna gavo
via-toya papur mune
kra-nimagna-citto - His heart plunged into pastimes; aya - He;
balaka - the boys; ca - and; mudanvita - happy; bhuktva - eating;
nava - new; ta - grass; gavo - the cows; via-toya - poisoned
water; papur - drank; mune - O sage.
O sages, as Ka, His heart plunged in in the thought of His
pastimes, played with the happy boys, the cows ate new grass and
then drank poisoned water.

viakta ca jala ptva
daruantaka-ceaya
jvalabhi kalakutana
sadya prana ca tatyaju
viakta - poisoned; ca - and; jala - water; ptva - drinking;
darunantaka-ceaya - by the terrible deed; jvalabhi - burning;
kalakutana - of poison; sadya - at once; praan - life; ca - and;
tatyaju - abandoned.
Drinking the the water burning with poison, the cows at once gave
up their lives.

dva mta go-samuha
gopa cintakula bhiya
vianna-vadana sarve
tam ucur madhusudanam
dva - seeing; mta - dead; go-samuha - the cows; gopa - the
gopas; cintakula - anxious; bhiya - with fear; viaa-vadana dejected; sarve - all; tam - to Him; ucur - said; madhusudanam - to
Lord Ka.
Seeing the cows dead, the frightened and anxious boys told Lord
Ka.

jatva sarva jagan-natho
jvayam asa gokulam
uttasthur tat kana gavo
dadu r-harer mukham
jatva - understanding; sarva - everything; jagan-natho - the
master of the universes; jvayam asa - revived; gokulam - the cows;
uttasthur - stood; tat - that; kaa - moment; gavo - the cows;
dadu - saw; r-harer - of Lord Ka; mukham - the face.
kaliya krodha-vihvala
jagrasa r-hari tura
tapta lauha yatha nara
sarpo - the snake; narakti - human form; dva - seeing; kaliya
- Kliya; krodha-vihvala - angry; jagrasa - swallowed; r-hari - Lord
Ka; turna - at once; tapta - hot; lauha - iron; yatha - as; nara a person.
Seeing humanlike Lord Ka, the snake Kliya at once swallowed
Him. Then Lord Ka made Himself hot like molten iron.
Text 11
dagdha-kahodaro nagas
codvigno brahma-tejasa
praa yantty evam uktva
cakarodvamana puna
dagdha - burned; kaha - throat; udaro - belly; nagas - the snake;
codvigno - distressed; brahma-tejasa - by the Lord's s iritual power;
praa - life; yanti - left; iti - thus; evam - thus; uktva - saying; cakara did; udvamana - vomiting; puna - again.
His throat and stomach burned by the Lord's spiritual power, the
snake, now on the verge of death, vomited up Lord Ka.

bhagna-danto rakta-mukha
ka-vajraga-carvaat
bhagna-vaktrasya bhagavan
uttasthau mastakopari
bhagna - broken; danto - fangs; rakta - red; mukha - mouth; ka
- of Lord Ka; vajra - thunderbolt; aga - limbs; carvaat - from
chewing; bhagna - broken; vaktrasya - mouth; bhagavan - the Supreme
Personality of Godhead; uttasthau - stood; mastaka - the head; upari on.
When it tried to bite the Lord, the snake broke its fangs and its
mouth. Its mouth became red with its own blood. Then the Lord
jumped on the snake's head.
Text 13
nago vivambharakranta
sa pranas tyaktum udyata
cakarodvamana rakta
papata murchito mune
nago - the snake; vivambhara - by the maintainer of the universes;
akranta - defeated; sa - he; pranas - life; tyaktum - to abandon;
udyata - was about; cakara - did; udvamana - vomiting; rakta blood; papata - fell; murchito - unconscious; mune - O sage.
O sage, defeated by the Lord who maintains all the universes, the
snake was on the verge of death. Vomiting blood, the snake fell
unconscious.

dva ta murchita naga
rurudu prema-vihvala
kecit palayita bhta
kecit praviviur bilam
dva - seeing; ta - him; murchita - unconscious; naga - the
other snakes; rurudu - creid; prema-vihvala - filled with love; kecit some; palayita - fled; bhta - afraid; kecit - some; praviviur - entered;
bilam - holes.
Seeing Kliya had fallen unconscious, the other snakes, who dearly
loved him, wept. Some fled in fear, and some entered their holes.

maranabhimukha kanta
dva hi subala sat
naginbhi saha premna
ruroda purato hare
maranabhimukha - on the verge of death; kanta - husbasnd;
dva - seeing; hi - indeed; subala - Subal; sat - chaste; naginbhi
- with many female snakes; saha - with; prema - with love; ruroda wept; purato - before; hare - Lord Ka.
Seeing their husband on the verge of death, chaste Subal,
accompanied by the Kliya's other wives, approached Lord Ka and
wept, overcome with love.

puajali-yuta tura
pranamya r-hari bhiya
dhtva padaravinda ca
tam uvaca bhayakula
puajali-yuta - with folded hands; tura - at once; praamya bowing down; r-hari - to Lord Ka; bhiya - with fear; dhtva holding; padaravinda - lotus feet; ca - asnd; tam - to Him; uvaca said; bhayakula - frightened.
Frightened, and her hands respectfully folded, she touched Lord
Ka's lotus feet and spoke.

r-subalovaca
he jagat-kanta kanta me
dehi mana ca manada
pati pranadhika strna
nasti bandhu ca tat-para
r-subala uvaca - ri Subal said; he - O; jagat-kanta - creatoer of
the universes; kanta - husband; me - to me; dehi - please give; mana
jaya - speechless; stotum - to pray; a - able; na - not; va Sarasvati; na - not; khalu - indeed; nikhila-veda - all the Vedas;
stotum - to pray; a - able; kim - what?; anye - others; stavanaviaya- akta - able to pray; santi - are; santas - saintly persons; tava
- of You; eva - indeed.
iva, Brahm, ea, Krttikeya, and their associates become
speechless when they try to glorify You. Sarasvati has not the power to
glorify You. All the Vedas have not the power to glorify You. How can
others, saintly though they may be, have the power to glorify You
properly?

ku-matir aham avija yoita kvadhama va
kva bhuvana-gatir a cakuo 'gocaro me
vidhi-hari-hara-eai stuyamana ca yas tva
manu-manuja-munai stotum icchami ta tvam
ku-matir - foolish; aham - I; avija - ignorant; yoita - of women;
kva - where?; adhama - - the lowest; va - or; kva - where?; bhuvanagatir - the destination of the worlds; a - the Lord; cakuo - of eyes;
agocaro - beyond the perception; me - of me; vidhi-hari-hara- eai by Brahm, Vinu, iva, and Yamarja; stuyamanas - being praised; ca
- and; yas - who; tva - You; manu-manuja-munai - by the
manus, human beings, and kings of the sages; stotum - to praise;
icchami - I desire; ta - Him; tvam - You.
Who am I? I am a fool, the lowest of women. Who are You? You are
the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the resting place of the worlds.
You are beyond the perception of material eyes. You are glorified by
Brahm, Viu, iva, Yamarja, the Manus, the sons of Manu, and the
kings of the sages.

stavana-viaya-bhta parvat yasya padma
ruti-gaa-janayitr stotum a na ya tam
kali-kalua-nimagna veda-vedaga-astraravana-viaya-muha stotum icchami ki tvam
ayano - reclining; ratna-paryake - on a jewel couch; ratnabhuana-bhuita - decorated with jewel ornaments; ratna-bhuanabhua - the jewel of jewel ornaments; ag - body; radha - ri Rdh;
vaka-sthala-sthita - staying on the chest; candanokita- sarvaga whose limbs are anointed with sandal; smerananasaroruha - whose lotus face is smiling; prodyat-prema- rasambhodhau
- in a rising ocean of the nectar of love; nimagna - plunged; santata
- always; sukhat - happily; mallika- malat-mala-jalai - with mallika
and malati garlands; obhita - decorated; ekhara - crown; parijataprasunana - of parijata flowers; gandhamodita-manasa - scented;
pus- kokila - cuckoos; kala-dhvanair - with the sweet sounds;
bhramara- dhvani-samyutai - with the humming of bees; kusumeu in flowers; vikarena - with emotions; pulakacita-vigraha - with bodily
hairs erect; priya-pradatta-tambula - betelnuts given by the beloved;
bhuktavan - enjoying; ya - who; sada - always; muda - happily; vande
- bow; aham - I; tat-padambhoja - to His lotus feet; brahmea- eavanditam - worshiped by Brahm, iva, and ea.
I offer my respectful obeisances to the lotus feet, worshiped by
Brahm, iva, and ea, of You, the Supreme Personality of Godhead,
who recline on a jewel couch, who are decorated with jewel
ornaments, who are Yourself the ornament that decorates Your jewel
ornaments, Who rest on Rdh's breast, whose limbs are anointed
with sandal paste, whose lotus face is smiling, who always happily
swims in a rising nectar ocean of love, whose crown is decorated with
mallik and malati flowers, whose chest is fragrant with a prijta
garland, whose hairs stand erect with joy when you hear the humming
of bees or the singing of cuckoos, and who enjoy the betelnuts offered
by Your beloved.

tam anirvacanya ca
ki staumi naga-vallabha
lakm-sarasvat-durga-jahnav-veda-matbhi - by Lakmi,
Sarasvati, Prvati, Gag, and Savitri; sevita - served; siddha-saghais
- by the siddhas; ca - and; munndrair - by the kings of the sages;
munibhi - by the sages; sada - always; veda - the Vedas; na - not;
akta - able; ya - whom; stotu - to glorify; ja- bhuta - speechless;
vicakaa - the philosophers; tam - to Him; anirvacanya indescribable; ca - and; ki - how?; staumi - I praise; naga-vallabha the wife of a snake.
How can I, the wife of a snake, properly glorify You, the
indescribable Supreme Personality of Godhead, whom the Vedas have
not the power to glorify, before whom the great philosophers become
speechless, and who are served by Lakmi, Sarasvati,
Prvati, Gag, Savitri, the siddhas, and the sages?

nikaranayakhila-karanaya
sarvevarayapi parat paraya
svayam-prakaaya paravaraya
paravaranam adhipaya te nama
nikaranaya - who has no cause; akhila - of all; karanaya - to the
cause; sarvevaraya - the master of all; api - and; parat - than the
greatest; paraya - greater; svayam-prakaaya - self-manifest;
paravaraya - the high and the low; paravaraam - of the high and the
low; adhipaya - to the king; te - to You; nama - obeisances.
I offer my respectful obeisances to You, who are not caused by
anything, but are the cause of all, who are the master of all, greater
than the greatest, self-manifest, present everywhere, and the master
of the great and small.

brahmea eea prajapata
muna manv-a caracarea
siddha siddhea gunea pahi
bhakti-namratma-kandhara
vidhtya caranambhoja
tasthau nagevar bhiya
iti - thus; eva - thus; stavana - prayer; ktva - doing; bhaktinamratma-kandhara - humbly bowed head; vidhtya - holding;
caraambhoja - lotus feet; tasthau - stood; nagevar - the snake
queen; bhiya - with awe.
After speaking these prayers, the snake-queen humbly bowed her
head. With awe and reverence, she touched the Lord's lotus feet.

naga-patn-kta stotra
tri-sandhya ya pahen nara
sarva-papat pramukta ca
sa yati r-hare padam
naga-patn-kta - done by the wifer of the snake; stotra - prayer;
tri-sandhya - three times; ya - who; pahen - recites; nara - a
person; sarva-papat - from all sins; pramukta - freed; ca - and; sa - he;
yati - attains; r-hare - of Lord Ka; padam - the feet.
One who at sunrise, noon, and sunset recites these prayers of the
snake-queen becomes free of all sins and attains the feet of Lord
Ka.

iha loke harau bhakti
ante dasya labhed dhruvam
labhate parado bhutva
salokyadi-catuayam
iha - in this; loke - world; harau - for Lord Kna; bhakti - devotion;
ante - at the end; dasya - service; labhed - attains; dhruvam - indeed;
labhate - attains; parado - a personal associate of the Lord; bhutva becoming; salokyadi-catuayam - the four kinds of liberation,
beginning with salokya.
In this world he attains devotion for Lord Ka. When this life is
ended he attains the four kinds of liberation, beginning with salokya.
He becomes a personal associate of the Lord. He serves the Lord
directly.

r-narada uvaca
naga-patn-vaca rutva
kim uvaca hari svayam
kathayasva maha-bhaga
rahasya paramadbhutam
r-narada uvaca - ri Narada said; naga-patn-vaca - the words
of the snake's wives; rutva - hearing; kim - what?; uvaca - said; hari
- Lord Kna; svayam - personally; kathayasva - please tell; mahabhaga - O fortunate one; rahasya - secret; paramadbhutam - very
wonderful.
ri Nrada said: When He heard the snake-queen's words, what did
Lord Ka say in reply? O very fortunate one, please tell me His
confidential and very wonderful words.

bhagavan dharma-nandana
uvaca paramakhyana
madhura ca pade pade
r-suta uvaca - ri Sta said; naradasya - of nrada; vaca - the
words; rutva - hearing; bhagavan - Lord; dharma-nandana - the son
of Dharma Muni; uvaca - said; paramakhyana - the sublime story;
madhura - sweet; ca - and; pade - step; pade - after step.

kalind-hradam utsjya
svakya-bhavana vraja
bhartra sa-gohya sardha ca
gaccha vatse tvam ipsitam
kalind-hradam - the Yamun's lake; utsjya - abandoning; svakyabhavana - own home; vraja - go; bhartra - with your husband; sagohya - with your family; sardha - with; ca - and; gaccha - go; vatse
- O child; tvam - your; ipsitam - desired.
Child, take your husband and family, leave this lake in the Yamun,
and go to your own home. Go wherever you wish.

adya-prabhti-nagei
bhuta kanya ca tva mama
tvat-pranadhika evaya
jamata na ca saaya
adya-prabhti - from now on; nagei - O snake queen; bhuta manifested; kanya - daughter; ca - and; tva - yiu; mama - My; tvatpranadhikas - your husband more dear than life; eva - indeed; aya he; jamata - son-in-law; na - not; ca - and; saaya - doubt.
From today on you are My daughter and your husband, more dear
to you than life, is My son-in-law. Of this there is no doubt.

r-subala uvaca - ri Subal said; vara - boon; dasyasi - You will
give; cet - if; mahya - to me; varadevara - O master of they who
give boons; he - O; pita - father; tvat-padabje - for Your lotus feet;
dha - firm; bhakti - devotion; nicala - unwavering; datum - to
give; arhasi - You are worthy.
ri Subal said: O father, O king of they who give boons, if You
would give me a boon, then please give me firm and unwavering
devotion for Your lotus feet.

man-manas tvat-padambhoje
bhramatu bhramaro yatha
tava smter vismtir me
kadapi na bhaviyati
man-manas - my heart; tvat-padambhoje - at Your lotus feet;
bhramatu - may wander; bhramaro - a bee; yatha - as; tava - of You;
smter - of the remembering; vismtir - of the forgetting; me - of me;
kadapi - ever; na - not; bhaviyati - may be.
May my mind become like a bumblebee always flying among the
lotus flowers of Your feet. May I always remember You. May I never
forget You.

As she drank with unblinking eyes the sight of Lord Ka's face,
the hairs of her body stood up and her eyes became flooded with
tears.

para sneha prakurvat
uvaca punar eva ta
bhakty-udrikta-paripluta
sundara - handsome; balaka - boy; dva - seeing; para great; sneha - love; prakurvat - did; uvaca - said; punar - again; eva
- thus; ta - to Him; bhakty-udrikta-paripluta - flooded with loving
devotion.
As she gazed at the handsome young Ka, she fell in love with
Him. Flooded with feelings of love, she spoke again.

na yasyami ramaaka
tatra nasti prayojanam
sarpa karotu sasara
kuru ma nija-kikarm
na - not; yasyami - i will go; ramanaka - to Ramanaka; tatra there; na - not; asti - is; prayojanam - need; sarpa - snake; karotu may do; sasara - material world; kuru - please do; ma - to me; nijakikarm - Your maidservant.
She said: I will not go to Ramaaka-dvipa. There is no need for me
to go. The Kliya snake may stay in the material world. Please make
me Your maidservant.

na vacha mama he ka
salokyadi-catuaye
tvat-padambuja-sevaya
kala narhanti oam
na - not; vacha - desire; mama - of me; he - O; kna - Kna;
salokyadi-catuaye - for the four kinds of liberation beginning with
salokya; tvat-padambuja-sevaya - of service to Your lotus feet; kala a part; na - not; arhanti - is worthy; oam - sixteenth.
O Ka, I do not wish the four kinds of liberation that begin with
slokya. Liberation is not equal to one sixteenth the value of service to
Your lotus feet.

vina tvat-pada-seva ca
yo vachati varantaram
bharate durlabha janma
labdhasau vacita svayam
vina - without; tvat-pada-seva - service to Your lotus feet; ca - and;
yo - who; vachati - desires; varantaram - another boon; bharate - on
the earth; durlabha - rare; janma - birth; labdhva - attaining; asau he; vacita - cheated; svayam - personally.
One who, after taking birth in this world desires a boon other than
service to Your lotus feet is cheated.

naga-patn-vaca rutva
smeranana-saroruha
prasanna-vadana rman
om ity evam uvaca ha
naga-patn-vaca - the snake-queen's words; rutva - hearing;
smeranana-saroruha - smiling lotus face; prasanna-vadana - happt
face; rman - glorious; om - Yes; iti - thus; evam - thus; uvaca - said;
ha - indeed.
yamala yama-kikara
pranamya kna ntva ta
jagmur golokam uttamam
avaruhya - descending; rathat - from the chariot; tura - at once;
yamala - dark; yama-kikara - servants of Lord Ka; praamya bowing down; ka - to Lord Ka; ntva - taking; ta - her; jagmur
- went; golokam - to Goloka; uttamam - in the spiritual world.
Descending from the chariot, the dark servants of the Lord bowed
down before Lord Ka. Taking the snake-queen with them, they
went to Goloka, the highest place in the spiritual world.
Text 57
hari chaya vinirmaya
dadau sarpaya mayaya
sa ca kicin na bubudhe
mohito vinu-mayaya
haris - Lord Kna; chaya - shadow; vinirmaya - making; dadau gave; sarpaya - to the snake; mayaya - by illusion; sa - he; ca - and;
kicit - anything; na - not; bubudhe - understood; mohito - bewildered;
viu-mayaya - by Lord Viu's maya.
Then Lord Ka created a shadow form of the snake-queen and
gave it to the Kliya snake. Bewildered by the Lord's my potency,
the snake did not understand anything of that.

avaruhya sarpam urdhva
r-ka karuna-nidhi
dadau hasta ca kpaya
ghra kaliya-mastake
avaruhya - descending; sarpam - the snake; urdhva - above; rka - ri Ka; karua-nidhi - an ocean of mercy; dadau - gave;
hasta - hand; ca - and; kpaya - by mercy; ghra - at once; kaliyamastake - on the head of Kliya.
tum-bhuta ca ta dva
tam uvaca kpa-nidhi
sad-varasya satata
yogyayogye sama kpa
tum-bhuta - silent; ca - and; ta - him; dva - seeing; tam to him; uvaca - said; kpa-nidhi - an ocean of mercy; sad-varasya of the Supreme Personality of Godhead; satata - always; yogyayogye for the qualified and the unqualified; sama - equal; kpa - mercy.
Seeing the snake unwilling to speak, Lord Ka, who is an ocean
of mercy, spoke to him. The Supreme Lord is equally king to both the
qualified and the unqualified.
Text 62
r-ka uvaca
vara vnu tva kaliya
yat te manasi vachitam
tva me praadhiko vatsa
sukha tiha bhaya tyaja
r-ka uvaca - ri Ka said; vara - boon; vu - choose; tva
- you; kaliya - O Kliya; yat - what; te - of you; manasi - in the mind;
vachitam - desired; tva - you; me - to Me; praadhiko - more dear
than life; vatsa - child; sukha - happily; tiha - stay; bhaya - fear;
tyaja - abandond.
Lord Ka said: O Kliya, you may ask for a boon, whatever you
wish in your heart. Child, to Me you are more dear than life. Don't be
afraid. Be happy.
Text 63
tasyaham anughnami
yo 'ti-bhakto mamaaja
kicit ta damana ktva
prasada hi karomy aham
tasya - to whom; aham - I; anughnami - am kind; yo - who; atibhakto - a great devotee; mama - of Me; aaja - born from a part of
Me; kicit - something; ta - that; damana - subduing; ktva - doing;
prasada - mercy; hi - indeed; karomi - do; aham - I.
I am always kind to My devotee. I treat him like a son. Sometimes I
may discipline him a little, but then I am very kind.

tvad-vaa-jatan sarpa ca
hanti yo manavadhama
brahma-hatya-sama papa
bhavita tasya nicitam
tvad - of you; vaa-jatan - born in the family; sarpa - snakes; ca and; hanti - kills; yo - one who; manavadhama - the lowest of men;
brahma - of a brhmana; hatya - the killing; sama - equal; papa - sin;
bhavita - becomes; tasya - of him; nicitam - indeed.
One who kills any of your descendants will become the lowest of
men. His sin will equal the sin of killing a brhmana.

mat-pada-padma-cihne ya
karoti dana-taanam
dvi-guna brahma-hatyaya
bhavita tasya kilbiam
mat-pada-padma-cihne - in My footprint; ya - one who; karoti does; daa - stick; taanam - hitting; dvi-gua - double; brahmahatyaya - of killing a brhmaa; bhavita - will be; tasya - of him;
kilbiam - the sin.
One who with a stick hits the place where you bear My footprint
commits a sin twice that of killing a brhmaa.

lakmr yasyati tad-gehat
apa dattva su-darunam
vaayur-yaasa hanir
bhavita tasya nicitam
lakmr - Goddess Lakmi; yasyati - will go; tad-gehat - from his
house; apa - sin; dattva - doing; su-darunam - very terrible; vaa family; ayur - lifespan; yaasa - and fame; hanir - destruction; bhavita
- will be; tasya - of him; nicitam - indeed.
He commits a great sin. Goddess Lakmi will leave his home. His
lifespan, fame, and descendants will all be destroyed.

dhruva vara-ata kalasutre yasyati darune
tvat-pramana ka-sagha
daiyanti ca santatam
dhruva - indeed; vara-ata - a hundred years; kalasutre - in hell;

Happy Nanda had the brhmaas recite the Vedas, chant the holy
names of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and perform many

ri Nryaa i said: One day, after eating and drinking at
breakfast and anointing His limbs with sandal, Lord Ka went to
Vndvana forest with Balarma and the boys.

nanda - Nanda; sa-pulako - the hairs erect; ha - happy;
sabhaya - in the assembly; saru-locana - his eyes filled with tears;

Nanda was very happy. The hairs of his body stood up. His eyes
were filled with tears. A father is pleased to be defeated by his
powerful son.

vardhate - increases.
Association with Your devotee plants the imperishable seedling of
devotional service to You. The raincloud of Your devotee's words
waters that seedling and makes it grow.

abhaktalapa-tapac ca
ukata yati tat kanam
tvad-guna-smti-sekac ca
sarva tat tat kane sphuam
abhakta - of the non-devotees; alapa - of the words; tapat - from the
heart; ca - and; ukata - dried-up; yati - attains; tat - that; kaam moment; tvad - of You; gua - the qualities; smti - memory; sekat from the watering; ca - and; sarva - everything;
tat - that; tat - that; kae - moment; sphuam - manifested.
The burning sun of a non-devotee's words makes that plant wither
and dry. The water of remembering Your transcendental qualities
brings it back to life.

tvad-bhakty-akuram adbhuta
sphta manasaja param
na naya vardhanya tan
nitya nitya kane kane
tvad-bhakty-akuram - the seedling of devotion to You; adbhuta wonderful; sphta - grown; manasaja - born from the heart; param great; na - and; naya - destroyed; vardhanya - growing; tan - that;
One who attains this prayer, mantra, and kavaca, a bona-fide guru,
and Lord Ka as his worshipable Deity, attains spiritual knowledge
that is never lost.

ity eva kathita stotra
r-kakhyanam adbhutam
sukhada mokada sara
bhava-bandhana-mocanam
iti - thus; eva - in this way; kathita - spoken; stotra - prayer; rkakhyanam - glorifying Lord Ka; adbhutam - wonderful;
sukhada - giving happiness; mokada - giving liberation; sara - the
best; bhava-bandhana-mocanam - release from the bonds of repeated
birth and death.
Thus I have spoken to you this wonderful transcendental prayer
glorifying Lord Ka, a prayer that brings both happiness and
liberation from the bonds of repeated birth and death.
