Analyzer Update

1 In this version

This release does not contain support for any new or updated file formats.

2 New collection device or technology support

There is no new collection device or technology support in this release.

3 Application layer improvements

3.1 Improved support for 64-bit architecture
Recently, with the advent of LTE data and increasing amounts of IP testing, log files have
been growing in size and becoming denser. Since v5, Analyzer has been able to
simultaneously load a number of files equal to the number of physical cores in your
machine, but the newer, larger files can quickly exceed the available virtual address space.
This release of Analyzer removes the previous limitations and allows you to load multiple
files in parallel by making full use of the hardware resources of your machine.

4 Platform improvements
4.1 Statistics Explorer
The Statistics Explorer has been rewritten in this release to give significant performance
enhancements and a number of new features, described below.

4.1.1

Data Filter Parser

To filter the data using an expression that contains statistics, click this button:
A data filter field is then displayed at the bottom of the Statistics Explorer window:

Click the Data Filter Parser button to open the Data Filter Parser field

You can type an expression into the field. Whilst there is no text in the field, the following
example will be displayed as an aid to understanding how to write expressions:

Example of filter expression (press Ctrl+ENTER to go to the next line):

(([Stats1] > X OR [Stats2] != Y) AND [Stats3] == ab cd ) OR
[Stats4] contains ac d OR [Stats1] contains [Stats2]

Instead of typing in the name of the statistic, you can right-click on or drag and drop it
into place, or right-click the column name of the statistic and select the appropriate option
to enter it into the expression.
If the expression does not parse correctly, you will see the message Error at the bottom
left of the Statistics Explorer window together with some explanation:

Once the expression parses correctly, you will see the message Parse OK Press [Enter]
to run filter at the bottom left of the Statistics Explorer window.

Entering a filter expression into the Data Filter Parser field

The message also tells you how many samples remain as a result of the filter. In this
example, 4171 rows have been filtered down to 35.

To output the rows shown in the Statistics Explorer to a comma-separated-values text file,
click this button:
A dialog now offers the choice of character with which to separate the output values (which
defaults to a comma):

Once you have made your selection and clicked OK, a standard dialog appears in which
you can define the name and path for the output file.

Hide Empty Queries / Cancel

remove these from view, click this button:
The number of queries is now reduced:

Selecting the Hide Empty Queries button

If there are a large number of queries, once the button has been clicked, it appears as a
progress bar:

The queries with no data are being removed from the list

If you want to cancel this process, click the Cancel button to the right:

4.2 Network Explorer

The Network Explorer has been rewritten in this release to give significant performance
enhancements. There are no changes to the user interface or functionality.

4.3 MapInfo MapXtreme replaces MapX

The third-party tool MapInfo MapX has been replaced with MapInfo MapXtreme in this
release. There are no changes to the user interface or functionality.

4.4 The user default locale preference

A new preference, General Settings > CellRefs > Using user default locale (shown in
the screenshot below), has been introduced. This sets which type of locale Analyzer uses
when processing a cellrefs file. The default option is to read the cellrefs file using the user
default locale. If the box is clear, system locale will be used.
For instance, a cellrefs file might use . as the decimal separator, the machines system
locale is set to French (France) and the user locale is set to English (United Kingdom). With
the check box ticked, the cellref will be processed correctly. If the box is not ticked, only
the integer part of the longitude and latitude values will be read (so 3.1415 will become
3).
