WHO IS THIS WEATHER MAN ?

1. A Person who teaches is called a teacher. What do you call a person who studies and
predicted weather conditions ? How would his/her job be helpful to others ?
A person who uses scientific methods to study, observe or forecast atmospheric patterns
and weather events is known as a meteorologist.
A meteorologist is tasked with predicting the shifts in weather and climate that can affect
the lives of the public.
Many meteorologists work closely with other Earth scientists, including oceanographers
and hydrologists, while communicating vital weather information to governments, media
outlets and industry leaders.
Generally meteorology is used for weather forecasting; it is also involved in aviation for
air traffic management, utility companies, maritime for ocean weather and shipping,
forestry during fire seasons, nuclear for how it aerosols and gases are dispersed in the
atmosphere and agriculture.
While meteorologists are well-known for issuing your forecasts, this is only one example
of the jobs that they do.
The following list shows some of the more popular types of meteorologists.
Broadcast Meteorologists report the weather for television.
Forecasters are responsible for preparing and issuing weather forecasts, as well as
watches and warnings, to the public.
Climatologists look at long-term weather patterns and data to help assess past climate and
to predict future climate trends.
Research Meteorologists include storm chasers and hurricane hunters.
Meteorologists through the United Nations network and World Meteorological
Organization, share their weather observations, in order to create more accurate models
and forecasts.
Forensic Meteorologists investigate claims for insurance companies on past weather or
research past weather conditions pertaining to court cases in a court of law.
Incident Meteorologists work with firefighters and emergency management personnel by
providing onsite weather support during wildfires and other natural disasters.
Tropical Meteorologists focus on tropical weather -- tropical storms and hurricanes.
Consulting Meteorologists are hired on by retailers, film crews, large corporations, and
other non-weather companies to provide weather guidance and expertise on a variety of
projects.
