Proposal for the Upgrading of Comfort Rooms in PUP

1. Introduction
1.1 PURPOSE
This document proposes a general renovation and upgrade for the comfort rooms of the
Polytechnic University of the Philippines. This upgrade is necessary to answer the resentments
and complaints of the many students in the University.
1.2 BACKGROUND
The students of the PUP are demanding for a renovation and upgrade on the comfort rooms
within the campus. Every comfort rooms has been discomforting to these students. This might
eventually worsen as soon as the University accepts another batch of students who will use the
same facility.
To accomplish the said renovation and upgrade, the students have stated their request for
these facilities. Their requests are to have broken facilities of the comfort rooms changed and
maintain it cleaner and more hygienic.
1.3 SCOPE
This proposal addresses only to the general renovation and upgrade of the comfort rooms in the
campus with regards to the complaints of the students. This does not include other renovations or
upgrades of the University.
2. Discussion
2.1 APPROACH
This document proposes that each comfort room must have at least two brand new toilets with
toilet seat and flush, new doors, tissue dispenser, soap dispenser, trash bin, and an exhaust fan.
2.2 RESULT
The new toilets will replace the dirty and clogged toilets which the students complain about. The
smell of the comforts rooms will lessen due to the exhaust fan attached in it. Also, the problem
about the hygiene will be address by new facilities such as the tissue and soap dispensers.
2.3 STATEMENT OF WORK
To achieve the goals of this proposal, the following task will be accomplished:
Acquire the necessary equipment
Detach/remove any old equipment to replace a new one
Attach new improvements
Connect any necessary wires/water supply for the exhaust fans, and toilets

3. Resources
3.1 PERSONNEL
The general renovation and upgrading comfort rooms requires 30 workers who are adept in
detaching and attaching exhaust fans, and toilet.
3.2 FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
The facilities would be all the comfort rooms in the PUP building. The specific equipment to
make the upgrade will be as follows:
Seventy-two units of American Standard Simplus Top Push Toilet
o Toilet Close coupled
o Water consumption: 3/6 ltf
o Flusing system: Washdown
o Trap way: S-trap
Thirty-six units of Standard SEF 6A exhaust fan
o 6 airblade
o With shutters
o 170mm x 170mm dimension
o Wattage: 30W
o Air delivery: 159 cu.ft./min
4. Cost
4.1 FISCAL
The proposed general upgrade includes the following equipment and installation costs:

4.2 TIME
Assuming the availability of the equipment and labor, the entire general upgrades may be
finished within 4 months. This estimate includes 5 days of acquiring equipment, 2 months of
detach old equipment and attaching a new one and 2 months connecting any necessary
wires/water supply for the exhaust fans, and toilets.

5. Conclusion
5.1 SUMMARY
The proposed renovation and upgrade on the comfort rooms of the PUP will provide a viable
and, cost-effective solution to the addressed complaints and requests of the students. After the
four months run of the renovation and upgrade, every comfort room will be available for the use
of the students. Given the proposed actions that provides exactly the right capabilities at
precisely right time, with cost and time line that are well presented above, the risk of this
solution is minimal.
