TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

It is this instructors philosophy that learning occurs as an individual travels on his or her lifes journey
and that college is an important part of that journey. Therefore, it is the instructors responsibility to
create a classroom atmosphere where learning can flourish. Learning is an interactive process
wherein each interaction is an opportunity to gain knowledge for both the students and the instructor.
The instructor, as the facilitator, must provide a learning atmosphere in which respect for differing
viewpoints is paramount and in which the individual feels free to express his or her own viewpoint. To
this end, the instructor shares information from both academics and practitioners. It is this instructors
belief that examining issues such as business ethics, civic responsibility, corporate responsibility,
environmental responsibility, global responsibility, social responsibility, and personal responsibility are
essential parts of every marketing course. Further, in an attempt to assist the student in his or her
academic journey, the instructor must respond in a timely manner to students questions and concerns
both inside and outside of the classroom.
