MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) based in

Pampanga raided on Thursday an illegal gun shop in Barangay San Juan in Lubao town and arrested two
suspected illegal gun makers.
A report reaching Camp Crame identified those arrested as Michael Tiongco and Rene Tiongco.
Police said a third suspect identified as Lucas Tiongco eluded arrest when the alleged illegal gun shop
was raided at about 11 a.m.
Senior Superintendent Ismael Fernandez, regional chief of the Central Luzon CIDG said the raiders were
armed with a search warrant issued by Third Judicial Executive Judge Celso Baguio for violation of
Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive law on Illegal Possession of Firearms) dated June 16, 2015.
Seized during the raid were more than eight assorted firearms, gun parts for assembly, assorted tools
used for the repair and conversion of firearms, magazines for different firearms and assorted
ammunition.
According to the CIDG, the raided shop is the alleged source of 18 homemade handguns converted into
pen-guns that can fire caliber .22 bullets.

The pen guns were confiscated from suspected gunrunner Augustine Maninang, 21, a resident of Barrio
San Antonio, Lubao, in an entrapment operation by the Quezon City Police last June 9.
The CIDG added that New People's Army rebels operating in Pampanga also have their guns repaired in
the raided illegal gunshop.
The arrested suspects are now detained at the headquarters of the Pampanga CIDG as charges are
being readied for filing against them.
