Solid flooring (plate or concrete) provides an effective shield from burning liquid raining on personnel on a
platform below. Additionally, there is a reduced risk of eye injuries from dirt or debris falling onto individuals
below the platform. In situations subject to frequent oil spill or leaks, grating is preferred to reduce slipping
hazards.

The maximum travel distance of 50 ft (15 m) to an exit way provides for quick egress during an emergency
and reduces the risk of being trapped by a fire or other hazard.

The maximum specified vertical distance for stairs is consistent with ANSI A1264.1 safety requirements.

The specifications for ladders are minimum requirements to provide safe egress from a structure.

This provision provides personnel with safer egress when there is a potential for a pool fire in a curbed
area.

These requirements prevent the accidental dropping of the crane load.
