    There are primarily 5 spectrum bands used for 4G in India: 850 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2300 MHz, 900 MHz GSM, and 2100 MHz. 1800 MHz is the most widely supported band in smartphones and is used by all major operators for 4G. 2300 MHz and 2100 MHz are also used but have more limited device support. 850 MHz, 900 MHz, and 2500 MHz have very little device support currently but may be important bands for future 4G expansion and rural coverage. The 700 MHz band also has potential but has not been auctioned yet.

    This band is primarily held by the yet-to-be launched operatorReliance Jioand Reliance Communications. Th
    Communications, MTS, Tata Docomo and BSNL/MTNL are other holders of this band. Of all these holders, Rel

    are most likely to use it for LTE deployments and theres also spectrum sharing in this b
    communications.

    As of now, the device ecosystem for this band is very very weak. Most 4G smartphones launching in India simply dont suppo
    support them (like iPhone 6/6s), mainstream support for 850 MHz band isnt present in smartphones being sold in India.

    operators had won spectrum in this band for 4G deployment. As of now, spectrum that can be used for 4G services
    Communications, Telenor, Videocon.

    Basically every major telecom operator in India except Tata Docomo and BSNL/MTNL have the ability to use 1800 MHz spe
    in India. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have already deployed 4G in 1800 MHz band.

    700 MHz and 2500 MHz bands arent going to be used for 4G services for at least the next two years unless
    auction in case thats held.
