Algebra I is an opportunity for you to develop the foundation of algebraic skills and
concepts essential to higher mathematics. Topics include (but are not limited to)
properties of real numbers, exponents, functions, systems of equations and inequalities,
and polynomials.
This classroom is a cooperative learning environment. You will be expected to be
part of a team and work with your classmates to collectively solve problems. Daily
practice may be done in teams, but you will take your assessments individually. So, ask
lots of questions!!! Utilize your teammates, and don't be afraid to ask me for
clarification.
All important information (unit topics, calendars, notes, and reviews, etc.) can
always be found on my website www.mathminton.weebly.com.
Grading
Summative Assessments (tests, performance tasks, etc.) make up 80% of your
grade. Formative Assessments (quizzes, daily exit slips, etc.) will make up the remaining
20% of your grade. Daily practice may be given either in or out of class. This may not be
graded. But you still need to make sure you give this your best effort. This is a skillsbased class; you don't want to fall behind.
