AUDITION NOTICE

TRIGGER WARNING: Show material, including audition and callback material will

WHERE: ACADEMIC HALL BUILDING (UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA, 135 SERAPHIN-MARION PVT.)
WHAT YOU NEED: PLEASE COME PREPARED WITH 16-32 BARS OF A MUSICAL OR ROCK SONG OF YOUR CHOOSING. YOU ARE REQUIRED
TO BRING YOUR OWN SHEET MUSIC BUT AN ACCOMPANIST WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOU.

CHARACTERS:
JOHNNY (LEAD): The main protagonist of the story, Johnny is volatile, und unsure of what he wants from life. He deals with issues from drug
abuse to sexual assault.
Male. Tenor. High amount of vocal stamina needed. Basic movement skills an asset.
ST. JIMMY (LEAD): The main antagonist of the story, and Johnnys shadow and alter ego. St. Jimmy is often responsible for seeds of
discontent and hatred among the group, and relies on Johnnys drug addiction and self-loathing to live.
Gender Non-specific. Tenor/Mezzo-Soprano. High vocal stamina needed. Strong movement skills an asset.
TUNNY (SUPPORTING): Johnnys friend that enlists as a soldier in war, only to be seriously hurt on the battlefield, which leads to him falling in love with
his nurse.

Male. Tenor. Strong movement skills an asset.

WILL (SUPPORTING): Forced to stay in Suburbia upon finding out about his girlfriends pregnancy, Will is an excessive drinker and becomes
abusive towards heather as his life continually derails.
Male. Baritone. Basic Movement skills an asset.
WHATSERNAME (LEAD): Johnny love interest, she accompanies him during his self-discovery and is often the voice of reason in the group.
Female. Mezzo-Soprano Belt. Strong Movement skills an asset.
HEATHER (SUPPORTING): Wills girlfriend, she progresses from newly pregnant, to having a toddler throughout the show. She is devoted to
her child more than anything else.
Female. Mezzo-Soprano Belt. Strong movement skills an asset.
EXTRAORDINARY GIRL (SUPPORTING): She is Tunnys nurse who cares for him after he is wounded on the battlefield. While on heavy
medication, Tunny envisions her as a stripper, and proceeds to fall in love with her.
Female. Mezzo-Soprano belt. Very Strong abilities in dance and/or acrobatics is an asset.
ENSEMBLE:
THE FOLLOWERS OF SUBURBIA: Required to fill in many vocal solos and small parts, the group follows Johnny to the city as his followers.
They portray not only people, but emotions and messages that are found throughout the shows story.
DANCE ENSEMBLE: A small group of dancers who are not required to sing (but may choose to) who are also part of the followers of suburbia.
They focus on heavier choreography in the show.
