Here we present the story of Colgate.
How Colgate start?
In 1806, William Colgate opened a factory starch, soaps and candles
in New York, with the name "William Colgate and Company". After
several years of sales, William Colgate died in 1857, and his son
Samuel, who at first not wanted to continue the business, thought it
would be right to do so.
In 1872, Colgate introduced Cashmere Bouquet, scented soap United
Nations; and the next year the company introduced its first
toothpaste, whatever the aromatic times and was sold in jars.
However, in 1896 the company changed the way to present this
product and sold the first toothpaste in a tube with the name "Colgate
Toothpaste". This new arrangement revolutionized the market and the
new packaging retooled as 'standard' for the sale of toothpaste In The
World.
After 12 years, the company was listed on the stock exchange, no
longer a purely family to form a business.
In 1911, Colgate began its social responsibility programs, promoting
oral education for children, and distributing toothbrushes and pastes
for free in schools. But in 1928 the company "Palmolive-Peet", which
produced one of the soaps sold in the world (soap palm oil and olive
oil), decided to buy Colgate to continue the line of personal hygiene
and be a leader in the market.
With this acquisition, the company "Colgate-Palmolive-Peet
Company", which after a while came to be called "Colgate-Palmolive
Company" originates. From this union Research Center is created in
Piscataway, New Jersey, and in 1968 a toothpaste was launched with
sodium fluorophosphate to fight cavities. This was, again, a big step
around oral health, because until that time toothpastes were purely
cosmetic.

second most consumed brand in the world, behind Coca-Cola,
according to the Footprint Brand Ranking 2014.
