History:
The Theta chapter of the Illinois AK was organized with twenty-three charter members on October 4, 1952 at the Jefferson Hotel in
Peoria. In charge of the initiation of members and installation of officers were Agnes Shipman, National Executive Board President
of Kansas City, and Elizabeth Davis, State chairman of Illinois chapters assisted by Eva Harlow and Edith Pope of the Springfield
chapters and Florence Oberlies of the Taylorville chapter. The first Theta president was Vivian Newport. Currently the Theta
chapter consists of twenty-nine active members.
