2001, Eric met Gelyn Lumampao in a bus on the way home from Davao City.
At that time, he was 18 years old and in a relationship.
He learned that Gelyn was taking up a course in Fisheries, at SPAMAST
College. The school was within the Municipality hall compound, near in his
house.
Eventually, Eric fell in love with Gelyn, who was a leader of the dance troupe,
popular and had several admirers.
Gelyn was living in a dormitory where she was not allowed to receive male
visitors. They saw each other every two to three months. He sent her loveletters through her classmate, who was his neighbor.
However, he was later turned off with the strictness and lack of communication.
2004, they saw each other when Eric was sent to the school to get some chairs.
He did not expect to see her again. He learned she was graduating soon. But
Eric was in a rush, the conversation was cut short.
They again lost communication. He was updated by their classmate that Gelyn
applied for work in Dubai.
Eric went to Japan, he stayed for 8 months, and worked as a factory worker.
When Eric went back to the Philippines, he saw one of her classmates, while
opening an account in Metrobank. He was told that Gelyn was back in the area
from Manila. Eric called Gelyn, and met her the next day. They did not have a
relationship.
2006, Eric was in Japan; while Gelyn was a sales agent in Dubai. They
maintained communication by phone calls (long distance). They spoke over the
phone 3-4 times a week and agreed to have relationship.
He proposed marriage, because he wanted to settle down because he was not
getting younger. He also wanted a companion.
2007, Gelyn informed her parents, she did not complete her contract. Eric also
came home to formalize the engagement, and stayed for 3 days in the country.
He went back to Japan.
March 23, 2007, Eric and Gelyn formalized their engagement, by bringing his
mother. They planned the wedding.
The wedding day was on April 27, 2007 in civil rites at the Hall of Justice in
General Santos.
After the wedding, they lived in her parents house.
Eric was surprised that Gelyn was dominant and authoritative. She was
stubborn. She did not like to compromise.
Eric admits flirting with other women. Gelyn was suspicious and guarded
whenever he spoke to female friends. He recalled when Gelyn shouted at him
when she saw him talking with a female friend. He felt humiliated.
Gelyn continued to be argumentative. She magnified his mistakes. She did not
provide Eric the admiration he needed, Eric felt his wife disrespected him,
because her mother did not approve of him. Her mother wanted for her to
marry a rich man,
Eric was disappointed to learn that Gelyn aborted the child by taking cytotic
tablet (10 tablets); Eric kept his resentment to himself,

Eric hoped the relationship would improve when they went to seek work
together in Macau. Unfortunately, only Gelyn was given an opportunity for
interview to stay in Macau. Eric had to go back to the Mindanao.
Gelyn eventually returned and went direct to Manila, to seek employment. Eric
called and maintained communications. He also sent her money.
Four months later Gelyn stopped communicating with him, she did not send
any text message replies to Eric.
