SSC CGL exam is conducted every year for Graduate candidates to fill up several vacancies in

various categories of posts in Departments / Ministries / Organizations across the country.

SSC CGL Syllabus 2016
If you are preparing for SSC CGL 2016 Exam, then you must know the Syllabus for both the Tier1 and Tier-2 Exams. SSC had announced a Notification, making some changes in the CGL 2016
Exam Pattern. Don't worry the Syllabus remains the same, only changes are in the Pattern,
Weightage and Duration of SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination.
However, CGL Tier-2 remains the same. In the CGL Tier-1, there will be 100 Multiple Choice
Questions (MCQ's) to be asked from 4 Sections which is English, Reasoning, Quantitative
Aptitude and General Awareness.

Tier-2 Syllabus:
Those who pass the Tier-1 exam can appear for Tier-2 Exam. The Tier-2 Exam will have Sections
which is English and Quantitative Aptitude.
1) Quantitative Aptitude: In the Tier-2 Exam, there will be 100 Questions from the
Quant section and each Question carries 2 marks. The Duration of this exam will be 2 hours.
2) English: This section is tier-2 Exam, will have 200 Questions , with each Question carrying 1
Mark. The Duration of this Exam is 2 Hours

Note: There will penalty of 0.50 marks for Quantitative Aptitude Sections; while there will be
penalty for 0.25 marks for English Language and Comprehension.
Descriptive Paper:
SSC had introduced a descriptive paper in the CGL 2016 Examination. This paper is only for
those, who qualify the SSC Tier-2 Exam
The Duration of this Paper is 1 hour only and Questions in this paper will be asked from the
following sections:
1) Essay Writing
2) Letter Writing
3) Prcis Writing etc
Applicants have choice to appear for Tier-1 Exam is Hindi or English Language.
Tier-3 Syllabus:
As, you all know, that the Government had dispensed with the Interviews for Non-Gazetted
posts (B and C) and as such the SSC had introduced a descriptive Paper (Hindi and English) in
Tier-3 stage.
Tier-III:
Pen and Paper mode:
Descriptive paper in English / Hindi writing essay / prcis / letter / application etc
Tier-IV:
Data entry skill test (DEST) / Computer proficiency test (CPT) (whatever applicable)
The Final Merit will be decided based on the candidates performance in all the three Tiers viz
Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3. Candidates have to qualify all the three tiers separately. Kautilya
