How to Bring Friends to Key Club

Tip #1
Bring Food!

!
!

This will be a great way to brand

meetings as just a fun, short
gathering that helps people
perform service and a snack :)

Tip #2
Participate in Key Club Week

!
!
!
!

Key Club Week, held in the Fall, in a

great way to engage members, but
YOU participating in it could
definitely get your friends on board!

Tip #2
Dont Overwhelm New
Members

!
!
!
!

Everyone has something that makes

them want to wake up in the
morning, and as a diverse service
organization we are able to help
provide to those needs. Listen your
members talk about their passion for
running, etc. THEN cater projects to fit
those needs and your friends will stay
connected!

Tip #4
Look into THEIR
passions

!
!
!
!

While you are probably super

excited to share your passion
with new members, its really
important to show members
what Key Club is in little steps!

Tip #5
Integrate KC into
conversation

!
!

Your friends want to be a part of

what you are, so demonstrate
your passion to them, and maybe
theyll be convinced to be a part
of an organization that brings you
joy.

Tip #6
Have fun!

!
!
!
!

Show them how much fun Key

Club is, and why YOU are a part
of it! Never forget how much joy
Key Club has given you in the
process!

How to Keep Members Coming Back

Tip #1
Assess your club regularly
As your club leadership, its your responsibility to
observe whats working and whats not. Create member surveys, talk
around, and try to identify real problems and solve them. Show your
members your willing to listen to them.

Tip #2
Jazz up your meetings

Tip #3
Social Activities

Meetings can be boring at times, so spice them up

with service projects, icebreakers or new guest
speakers!

Tip #4
Recognize Members

Make social gatherings a monthly occurrence to

build family within your Key Club! Local restaurant
outings, bowling, movie nights, etc. will help build
fellowship in your club!

Tip #5
Hold a variety of projects

Recognition is something
that we all crave at some point, so make
sure youre doing your best to recognize the good
deeds of your members! Congratulate chairs and
participants for project coordination, but also give
awards like Member of the Month and hold
an awards banquet to recap the year!

Projects are what your members are here

for, so be sure to give them a large variety!
Different people will naturally be attracted to certain
events over others, so create an agenda that
represents EVERYONE!

Tip #6
Build your new board
Sadly, we cant be a part of Key Club forever, and
well be graduating soon, so that means finding replacement officers! Talk
it out with new members who show passion for your projects and try and
gauge interest for new possible positions!

How to Break the Ice

A guide to everyones favorite icebreakers

The Ultimate IceBreaker

Two Truths and

A Lie
Create a circle and
Ask each person to
Come up with 2
Truths & 1 lie.
Everyone has to guess
which one is the lie

Secret Identity

The aim is for each team

to melt a block of ice
with clothing frozen into
it. The first team to put on
the clothing wins!

Put a famous
persons name on
your partners back.
The partner has to guess
who it is by asking 5
Yes/No Questions. Switch
roles when the person gets
it right.

M&M Meet Up

Get each person to grab some M&M's. Tell

them not to eat them. Assign a different
meaning to each colour:
Blue = family
Green = school
Yellow = friends
Red = hobbies
Brown = music/movies
However many M&Ms they have in their
hands, that is how many facts they have to
tell.

Name Bingo
Each person has to fill their
bingo sheets by meeting a
new person that fits in one
of the categories of the
bingo sheet

How to be a Seasoned Veteran in Membership Retention

Spring

Summer

In the season of APs, IBs,

SATs and every other
acronym you can think of,
youll likely see meeting
attendance drop drastically.
The KEY (haha- get it)to
combatting this drop is
striking the perfect balance
in service projects and social
events.

Just because school isnt over,

it doesnt mean service is!
This is the perfect
opportunity to start
recruiting new members with
more outdoorsy activities!

Projects: A variety of projects are

what will keep your members
engaged! Make sure you have
enough volunteers available to fill
shifts!

Social Events: Shake up your

meeting by holding a lot of in-services

and celebratory parties during
meetings! This excitement will
translate to energized Key Clubbers
for the new year!

Projects: Projects are what will keep

your members engaged! Adapt what
kinds of projects you will engage in to
provide for variety, but also make
sure you have enough volunteers
available to fill shifts!

Social Events: Allow for freshman

members to feel apart of your Key Club
family, and use this opportunity o discuss
all the opportunities Key Club provides!

Fall

As the year kicks off in the fall, its really important to start off
introducing the basics of Key Club in a fun and informative way! Try
planning a Key Club 101 meeting or a cool in-service to give new
members a taste of this wonderful organization!

Winter

As ordoorsy service opportunities slow down, its hard to engage

members like before. Try a holiday party to remind your members
what Key Club stands for! Have people bring items to be donated to
food shelters and help spread joy at the same time! Itll keep them
thinking about service over the holidays!
