Personal and Professional Goals
Personal and Professional Goals
As a goal-oriented person, I have always kept several personal and professional goals to
help motivate me to improve and achieve more. I look forward to continuing to set goals after
graduation.
Personal Goals:
I would like to re-structure my priorities to include more time with family as I begin to
transition from student to employee. I will know that I achieved this goal when I spend at
least 1 day a week with family by the beginning of September 2016. To do this, I must
prioritize time with my family above additional uses of free time.
I am currently enrolled in a Spanish course and have tested 24% fluent in Spanish. My
goal is to become 100% fluent in Spanish. I will know that I have achieved this goal
when I test 100% fluent in Spanish by December 2016. To do this, I must prioritize my
lessons and studying by spending 30 minutes a day completing them.
Professional Goals:
As I begin to develop independent nursing skill, I would like to improve the speed and
accuracy of my performance. I will know that I achieved this goal when I get a 100% on
my medication administration by October of 2016. In order to achieve this goal, I must
continue to practice and become more efficient.
As I enter the professional field of nursing, I would like to recognize and appreciate
others' work more frequently. I will know that I achieved this goal when I express this
appreciation through actions or assistance at least once a day. To do this, I must recognize
when co-workers are going above and beyond and express my appreciation toward them.
I would like to enroll in the BSN-DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program by August of
2018. I will know that I achieved this goal upon acceptance into the program. In order to
achieve this goal, I must maintain a high GPA and accumulate recommendation letters.
To conclude, I look forward to achieving these short and long-term professional and personal
goals to continue to improve myself.
