Year 2 Excursion & Sleepover

Dear Parents,
We are pleased to announce the Year 2 History Excursion and Sleepover will be held on Friday, 26 th
August 2016. This is an event that takes place every year and is always lots of fun for everyone.
Details are outlined below:

Students to be dropped directly to the Underground Museum & Hospital, Joan

Street. (Supervision from 8.10am only)

8.45am

Group tour rotations (museum, hospital, tent, work book)

10.15am

Short walk to Good Shepherd Catholic Church

10.30am

Morning Tea

11.20am

Christian Meditation in the Church

11.30am

History of the Catholic Church and Schools in Mount Isa (Fr Mick)

12.30pm

Short walk to Outback@Isa

12.45pm

Lunch

1.15pm

Outback@Isa tours Riversleigh Fossil Centre etc.

2.50pm

Students to be collected promptly from the Outback@Isa rear carpark.

Sleepover:
5.30pm

Arrive at St Josephs Penola Centre and set up sleeping gear (parents please
help), then head to the oval for some games

6.30pm

Dinner Pizza! Followed by inside rotation activities

8.00pm

Brush teeth, change into PJs following by a movie (please sign PG movie
permission)

Sat Morn

Wake up, breakfast (pancakes, fresh fruit and juice)

8.00am

Prompt collection from school no later than 8am

Excursion: Packed morning tea and lunch for excursion (non-perishable/ice

pack to keep cool). Include water bottle.
Sleepover: Pizza please complete order form attached, pancakes, fresh fruit
and juice)
All students to be dropped off at Underground Museum and collected from
Outback@Isa. Students to be dropped off and picked up from Penola Centre for
sleepover.

Dress:

Excursion: Full academic uniform for excursion including school hat (Year 2 can
wear coloured clothes on Thursday, 25th instead)
Sleepover: Students to have shower before returning to school for sleepover,
wearing warm clothes for oval games and inside rotations. PJs for sleeping and a
change of clothes to go home in.
$20 per student, paid directly to the office by Monday, 15 th August

ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE NOT PERMITTED

Medication:

If your child takes regular mediation of an evening or morning, please

administer it prior to arriving or after leaving the sleepover.

If there are any problems during the night, we will not hesitate to call you, as we dont want this to
be a stressful experience for the children. If your child has been sick in the days before the
sleepover, please carefully consider if it is best for them to attend the sleepover. They are more
than welcome to attend for dinner, activities and movie and be picked up before bedtime.
Please complete the permission slip attached and return it to your childs teacher, no later than
Monday, 15th August along with payment of $20 directly to the office by the same date.

Students will be shown a movie before going to sleep on Friday night. Students will be given
a choice between Big Hero 6 (PG) or Rise of the Guardians (PG). Students will also be eating
pizza for dinner and pancakes for breakfast with a variety of toppings.
Please specify if there are any religious or cultural barriers in relation to this.

We will need parent helpers for the following:

1: During the day when visiting the Underground Hospital, Outback
at Isa and the Good Shepherd Parish (8:25am- 2:50pm),
2: To stay at the school and sleep over (5:30pm- 7:00am) and
3: To assist with breakfast (7:00am- 8:00am)
