Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta writes a letter to Sevasmiótate informing them of his decision to accept the position of Scholárchis (Dean) of the Saint John the Theologian Theological Academy of Toronto. He has served faithfully for four years as Ierokirix of the Metropolis of Atlanta under Sevasmiótate's guidance, but feels that due to recent health issues, he no longer has the physical strength needed for the extensive travel required in their vast Metropolis. He prays that Sevasmiótate will bless his new opportunity to influence future priests in Toronto.

On today's feast of the Holy and Great-martyr Pantelemon, I greet you as always with respect and love. Observing your always dignified example as a servant of the Holy Church of Christ and of the people, I find myself in a quandary how to share with you a difficult decision I have made as to my continued service to the Church. My four years under your omoforion as Ierokirix of the Metropolis of Atlanta has helped me tremendously in my personal repentance - especially because of the traditional-paternal way ( ) you have always shown me that you are pleased with my offering. Whatever good I have done is a direct result of the confidence Your Eminence has always placed in my unworthiness. The opportunity has arisen (from Metropolitan Soterios of Toronto) to take over the position as Scholrchis (Dean) of the Saint John the Theologian Theological Academy of Toronto. And with your blessings, I have accepted this position with both sadness for leaving your side ~ but also with joy for the opportunity given me to influence future priests of our Church. I arrived at this decision after much prayer and thought. Moreover, for the illness that I overcame recently by your prayers - and in God's providence, I realize that for the amount of travel necessary in our vast Metropolis - I may no longer have the appropriate physical strength to endure. I believe that your prayers will accompany me in this new opportunity of service to the Church. For whatever else you need from me, I am at your disposal. I remain, with respect and love referencing your right hand, +Christdoulos, priest-monk
