At the beginning of this course I had knowledge on a small variety of helpful websites and tools for education. I also knew how to communicate with the use of technology. After doing the My Technology Competencies checklist I realized that I already had a handful of the skills listed before beginning this course. I was previously able to use many types of computers, use technology for communication and collaboration, I could use a variety of technologies for precise and clear presentation ideas, and I could use the internet for global communication and research. In the past two weeks some of my skills have expanded with the help of this course. I am now more knowledgeable on different websites that are available to help educators such as Diigo and Weebly. The areas I have the least knowledge on are areas involving standards. During this course so far I have been introduced to many of the standards, but have not yet worked with them. I am not yet capable of describing the P21 criteria for preparing 21st-century learners, I am not familiar with administrative software or much academic software, how to use technology to support learnercentered strategies and meet content standards, I am not yet aware of social, ethical, or legal issues associated with technology, I have not used technology to work with special needs students before, and I have not yet used technology to address student diversity. Some of the technology competencies I am somewhat familiar with include creating a comprehensive instructional plan that uses technology effectively, using technology to improve my professional productivity, using technology to help manage classroom tasks, using the Web to support teaching and learning, using technology to asses students progress, organizing data via technology for reporting, using technology that keeps students safe and equal, and I am somewhat aware of emerging technologies that will impact education in the future.
