The bloody, gory body of the fearful demon, Hiranyakashipu, son of Kasyapa, lay strewn
on the pristine marble floor. Lord Narasimaha, a half man half lion incarnation of Lord
Vishnu, placed him on his lap, sitting on the demon king’s throne and shook the three
worlds with a reverberating roar. The greatest of the demon’s, entrails lay ripped out of
his body as his life-less figure lay like a rag-doll on Lord Narasimha’s lap. The Lord’s
furious face was etched with a scowl as his mane wildly flew in all directions, scattering

When The demon king Hiranyakashipu saw the Lord, his heart was struck with fear, for him Lord
Narasimhadeva was death personified. But for Prahlad ,the Lord was a loving, gentle Father.
Kamsa also saw Krishna as death personified, while the gopis and cowherd boys loved him and
could not live without him. Krishna is equal to all , but depending on our consciousness we see
him differently. Devotees relate to Krishna in diverse ways. The cowherd friends of Sri Krishna

saw him as their best friend, while the gopis saw the lord as their paramour. Krishna, being the
Supreme Lord reciprocates with each devotee’s unique devotional mood. Krishna’s father,
dispelling the darkness with his claws. Even today Lord Narasimha is prayed to for protection
from darkness. May the lord dispel all obstacles on the path of devotion.
