Aviation Career Education (ACE) hosted an educational camp in Lagos, Nigeria to promote the value of education and school enrollment. ACE works to increase STEM education opportunities in developing countries. The camp emphasized the importance of education and demonstrated how STEM education can generate homegrown workers rather than requiring other countries to fill scientific and technical roles. AAR CORP has supported ACE's efforts through donations of school supplies and funding for STEM education camps and scholarships.

One-third of school aged children in Nigeria are not enrolled in school.
Aviation Career Education (ACE), as a part of the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees, has introduced education-based camps to increase school enrollment. This year ACE hosted a camp in Lagos, Nigeria to demonstrate the value of education to school aged children. The Nigerian Aviation Career Education organization provided this chance of a lifetime to these children fortunate enough to attend in their poverty stricken country. Over the years, AAR CORP has recognized the need to support and improve educational opportunities for children in developing countries. Specifically for ACE, AAR CORP has donated school supplies for the past three years. Unfortunately, the lack of education is a prevalent problem many countries suffer from. ACE hosts camps to emphasize the importance of STEM education. The outcome of an insufficient STEM education system results in importing workers from other countries to provide the scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical background. However, providing STEM education within a countrys borders generates in increased amount of homegrown workers. In fact, providing proficient STEM education is a problem our own country currently faces. President Obama said in his State of the Union address in 2012, "Other [immigrants] came more recently, to study business and science and engineering, but as soon as they get their degree, we send them home to invent new products and create new jobs somewhere else." But AAR CORP doesnt stop there in Nigeria! Last summer, supplies were donated to the Professional Woman Controllers camp in Peru. Also, funding was given to Civil Air Patrol first year membership for youth attending summer camps. In addition, academies and funding for scholarships for STEM youth were provided. In some of the most unstable parts of the world, AAR CORP has proven to provide consistent international support. Work as one. Be inclusive.
